stars2heaven
Im trying to download the tutorial from the "Blender 3d blade tutorial" found here, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28319 But when I do I can't extract the file. Does anyone know what I need to make it work?
LHammonds
Most likely 7-Zip I doubt it is actually an MP4 file. An MP4 file is a video file. The file is probably .7z or .rar or .zip EDIT #1: Yep, the archive you download from that mod page is .zip. Windows can extract zip files without the need of any archive utility...however, I still recommend 7-zip since it can handle .7z and .rar files which are typically uploaded here. EDIT #2: Ah, once I downloaded the .zip file, I extracted the contents which was just a single .MP4 video. I double-clicked on the video and Windows Media Player pulled it up without a problem. I'll check to see if I have any video codec packs installed. EDIT #3: I do not have any specific codec packs installed but I have so many video editing packages installed that one of them probably added a codec that allowed me to view the MP4. So, all I can do is point you to either a codec pack or a media player that is likely to be able to play it for you. VLC Media Player (portable)ffdshoworK-Lite MEGA Codec Pack - NOTE: Go for the corporate edition as it is least intrusive...some people have said the mega pack can interfere with some games' ability to playback cutscenes and such...although I have not seen any problems myself. LHammonds
It is Alexs' tutorial and yes it does work. You just need a media player / codec that can decode and playback MP4 files. LHammonds

LHammonds Thanks for the response. I downloaded those files but they havent solved my problem. Im sorry, I've been away for a while so I've actually forgotten about some of the programs that I have. I thought that I had 7zip, but when the extractor pops up it says jzip. Im not sure if it is the same or not. In anycase, when I try to actually extract the file and error message pops up that says, "jZip does not support the compression method used by the archive file 'Blade tut.mp4'. I must have downloaded thousands of files with this thing in the past and this is the first time I remember having this problem.
