Help! Hehe I Think I Have Too Many Mods. Any Advice?

Ok first off may I please start off saying that I am fully aware that not insalling all of them or removing some of them will remedy this problem I'm looking for something that will help me get around the need to do that.

I have about 400+ mods downloaded You can never have too many sets of armor or shiny weapons or pretty houses and castles. After sorting through them all and installing the ones I wanted I ended up with some 376 or so mods. When I try to run Oblivion it says "There are too many selected files to compile" and the game will not load. I've tried using that one thingy that merges mods together but as i have NO flipping idea what i'm doing it only 1/2 worked. the mods i made to compile the dl's together work by themselves but not with other mods. Needless to say that wasn't exactly the result I was looking for.

I figure out of all the people that have this game I can't be the only person insane enough to have this many mods so that poses the question, Is there anyway to bypass the games max load limit or edit it in some way? Or does anyone have any good advice on what I can do to the mods themselves to consolidate them in to less files so the game doesn't have such a hard time with it? Any tutorial links that you think would prove helpful would be great too on merging mods or what ever.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replys with helpful advice.

I don't have any good advice on how to solve your problem, but I know that Oblivion has a hard limit of 255 master and plugin files, which is why you are having the issue.

WOOT!!!! I did it i only had to get rid of 3 mods that are seemingly broken!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I merged and merged and merged some more i checkec every mod against the others to make sure that i didn' tput any mods that conflicted in any way in the same merged mod and limited myself to 25 mods per merged mod made 8 of those and and put that with the other 223 files and i got it to load with all mods will probably have to remove a few here and there when i find things that conflict to the point of brokenness hehe but i got them all to load :) just thought i'd share. Oh and for anyoen that was wondering the limit is definatly 255 including the oblivion.esm file i tested it hehe

I still have a bunch i could merge together to free up about 1/2 my space but I just didn't bother it's running now so i'm happy hehe when i need to i'll make more space now that i've figured out how :) and honestly i did download alot but I don't really feel that i've over done it. everything i added are things that add content new npc's to interact with, pets, new houses and castles and dungeons, new armor looks, new weapons a few cool mods that improve gameplay in my opinion but honstly that's the smallest lot there most of my huge collection is content additions :)

I played the game for a while before i added anything and that's probably why i didn't change much game play wise and the things i did change were like adding hunger and the ability to get drunk and a targeting system. I don't use cheats and didn't download anymods to help me cheat just things that enhance the game as it is already :o)

I'm gonna venture a guess out, and assume you've only got a gig of memory. Ok, this is without basis, but I believe it's sound.

I've run oblivion in a memory window, and at 512MB(minimum) I can only get a few mods to run reliably, and only ones that modify script, or add one or two minor objects, nothing too heavy. In a 1024MB window, I can get about 16-ish mods to load reliably, mostly heavy stuff. I've got alot of texture revamps, new toys, and some minor stuff I've done just to make a few ends meet. In the max window I can run 2047MB, I can load all thirty of my mods, and execution is smoother than a well-oiled gas-assisted blowback bolt. Then again, I'm only running 4X bandwidth, because for some reason this board won't switch to 5X without causing a fake bluescreen.

ALSO! I must note that I'm not the only one that plays this game on my box. A friend of mine has a save with none of these mods active, because he's a dumbass, and doesn't want to have the kick-ass mythic dawn armor, or the PH-CHAN headgear....fag

In the scientific world, or in any verbose culture, sound means stable, or viable as well as the meaning you misinterpreted.
