Converting Meshes And Textures

Now I know that there is a ban on this kind of question on ElderScrolls.com and I hope that this doesn't apply here, but I was wondering, are there any people working on converting meshes to oblivion from Morrowind? I know that this has been a popular thought around some groups of modders, and I want to know for myself. I took a crack at it, and the meshes of morrowind as they stand now are unuseable, so someone would have to go waaaaaaay out of their way and fix every mesh to make them useable. If anyone is working on a project like this, I would like to know how it's going and if there is any known expected due date. I reaaaaaaaaaaly want to know, cause when you reaaaaaly like something like Morrowind, and something better comes along, why not take the old one with you?

(P.S. I have some advice for those who are planning a project like this: Only work on one piece of architecture at a time. It will be much easier just to fix Velothi rather than Velothi, Daedric, Hlaalu, Reoran, Telvanni, e.t.c.....) :)

There's really no point to it. Morrowind's meshes are obsolete and way too low-poly, as you'd expect from an older game. The visual design is nice, but you'd be better off re-building them with more detail, better textures, and take advantage of all the new options of Oblivion's engine.

That's the whole point. You can't use the old morrowind meshes because they cannot be recognized by the oblivion game engine, so you would need new meshes. It would be easier to probably work on the meshes that are already there for morrowind and add the new textures, possibly even make the meshes look a little cooler. this is just a thought. I'm not willing to do it, I suck at that stuff, but someone else should do it. I mean, you can like, turn the mournhold stuff all shiny, or polish wood floors, but it's worth it.

I was wondering, how hard is it to do something like this? Does anyone know how to? If I knew, I could possibly do it.....

And, anyone have any ideas of how you could possibly change Oblivion to recognize the old Morrowind files? I don't see why oblivion can't see them now, but it seems like a fixable concept.
