TheTrickyOne
Hello. I've been playing Oblivion on the Xbox 360 for a while now, and it has become one of my favorite games. However, considering that I'm planning on purchasing a good computer in a few weeks, I plan on switching to Oblivion on the PC. I decided to browse through some of the mods hosted on this site and... wow. There are a lot to choose from. I honestly do not know where I should start once I begin to play the game for the PC. Do any of you have any tips on which popular mods I should begin with? I have these questions in particular: -What are examples of some popular mods that expand the weapons/armor/spell selection in Oblivion without introducing any all-powerful, game-breaking items?-Which mod(s) offers the best alternatives for the vanilla leveling system without weakening/strengthening any specific paths?-I've heard of several people discussing an "OOO" that supposedly bolsters the entire Oblivion experience. What is it and what does it do?-Are there any mods that add additional landmasses to the Oblivion game-world (like what the Shivering Isles expansion did)? Ultimately, I'm probably going to end up seeking a collection of mods that expand Oblivion's content and make it into a balanced RPG, favoring neither the player nor the opposition. What combination of mods is best for this? (I apologize if this is too broad of a question to answer; there are just so many available mods, and I'd like a place to start.) Thanks in advance! EDIT: I plan on getting the GOTY edition from Steam.
TehBuddha
OOO - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15256 It basicall y sums it up on the page. "Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul aims to make Oblivion a much more interesting, challenging, realistic and dangerous place, and also offers great rewards for the daring adventurer regardless of your level. You must be prepared to cast aside your previous notions about Cyrodiil. The world no longer revolves around you, the player. Do not expect to be able to beat every monster or NPC you meet. Previously familiar areas may now be much more dangerous and you will frequently be forced to retreat from enemies who are too powerful to beat until you are stronger. You will probably die a lot more often now. However, if you have the ingenuity, skill, and luck to survive the odds stacked against you then you will be justly rewarded for your bravery!" ~ quoted from the link ^ ~ I, personally, have never tried any landmass mods, so I couldnt help you there. But as ar as weapons and armour go, Armamentarium is pretty good. You'd jst have to execute a little self controll and not se the spell untill later on in the game. I did it, I'm sure you can :teehee: armamentarium ~ http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13884 Im sure I've seen an alternate levelling system hee, jut google Oblivion alternate levelling mod or something along those lnes, and I'm sure you'll find it. P.S. ~ Welcome to the nexus
PlasticOnoMan
these are a few landmass type mods, though i haven't yet downloaded them- trying to stabilize my game right now and have only downloaded a few quest mods http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11755adds an island from one of the earlier elder scrolls games http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23153underground city http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8722this mods dead, but it's pretty cool anyway there are also various mods under the title 'unique landscapes'- there are alot, some seem really impressive, others not so much-- these don't add any quests though, just sceneryas for weapons, look up the realswords mods- easily the best weapon mod out there. leveling, see progress and realistic leveling. check out the authors of mods you find and like- its really the easiest way to find some truly enriching mods- also be sure to check comments and the date a mod was last updated. you'll might want to avoid most mods that haven't been updated in two or three years.
