Models refusing to work properly

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm currently trying to get a sword I recently did the concept art for and had a friend build to work in Oblivion, we have NIFSkope and the model in question was made in Lightwave 9.6 (most recent version) as .FBX or .OBJ files (cannot remember which) with the normal map made in Zbrush 3. It loads into Nifskope just fine except it refuses to recognize the textures or specular map (might also be ignoring normal map). Any help would be greatly appreciated, if you have any tutorials please PM me a link, thanks.

P.S. Sorry if this qualifies as a duplicate thread.

Sounds like you need to import it into Blender...then make sure the UV Map is still there. If so, then configure the material settings and attach the texture. The other item to check is a collision model. Then export to NIF and you should be good to go (assuming the position and size are correct).

Blender is what I use to create / modify models and then export as NIF files for use in Oblivion.

If you are just trying to get this one weapon done, send me the OBJ and image maps and I'll see if I can get a working NIF / DDS set for you.

It would probably take too long to go through all the Blender tutorials just to get one weapon in-game...but its a different story if you plan to keep doing this for other weapons and armor...which can turn into a game in and of itself.

EDIT: The specular map should be copied into the alpha channel of the normal map.
