I Need a Vista Mod Tutor

First and foremost, I have no clue how to run Vista on my computer. Its on my brand new PC. I made the switch from Windows XP to Vista about four days ago. So yes, everything is new to me. I need someone who can teach me the basics of running mods on Vista who, in term, mods on his or her own Vista computer. I tried reading everything in every guide on the thenexus and other web sites and most of them are filled with so many computer and modder terms it's confusing.

Starting out the content needs to be easy to understand.

Throughout this teaching process: Please break down every explanation to the point were a person who's never done mods before or ran Vista can understand everything to the best of your ability. I'm not asking you to break it down to the atom. Go into as much detail as humanly possible. I may ask many question, some which may or may not seems so obvious. Please don't become aggravated. I'm only asking because I'm a a bit slow when it comes to understanding anything I read that involves tech, although I do have a 12.9 reading level. Reading isn't my learning style. I learn best when I see what's being done (through examples) and/or explained to the point were its a broken down to the bones guide. From there I'll take some notes. Afterwards once I start learning the basic we can work on the more intermediate and advanced content.

What I'm looking for:

1. A dedicated tutor who can teach me the basics of modding Oblivion on Vista.

2. A tutor who can break and define everything down from modding and Vista lingo into an easy to understand format through organized detailed examples and definitions.

3. A tutor who doesn't mind a hoard of questions about modding and Vista in general.

4. Knowledge in multiple fields of modding (Meshes, Textures, Weapons, Armor etc.)

5. Someone who understands my current abilities at the time during the teaching process.

I know this sounds like a lot to ask. Any help would be appericated. Thank you in advance.

If you add me on msn I might be able to help - I've had vista for about a year and have been modding for 2 years, I do everything expect for moddeling, which I'm learning. My msn can be found on my profile. Ooh and I'm good at repeating stuff, answering questions that might seem obvious to me, and going into detail. It's pretty hard to bother me ;p

The main difference between modding/playing Oblivion on Windows XP and Vista / Windows 7 is the additional security issues.

Install Oblivion somewhere OUTSIDE the "Program Files" folder (e.g. do not let it install to the default folder).

Install someplace like C:\Games\Oblivion or D:\Oblivion, etc.

From then on, it is pretty-much the same. You might have to configure the Construction Set icon to run as Administrator but I cannot remember for sure.

If you want to start getting into modeling with Blender, be sure to download the Blender package here on TESNexus and follow the included step-by-step install instructions which work well for Vista PCs.
