Can't level/gain xp

I can't seem to get any xp. I also can't seem how much xp is left to gain a level. I think something went wrong with modding.

That usually happens when u force to advance levels using the console(advlevel):

This command does display the usual levelup dialog where you select the attributes to increase. When using this, the number of times you have to level up your major skills to level again does NOT advance. This means that if you had 3 major skill levels until your next level, and you used the advlevel command to level three times, you will need 23 major skill improves before the game starts leveling you again.

I just started playing oblivion again, so I just have 1 character. I haven't used the console. Do I need to wait until I'm out of the tutorial zone before gaining levels or skills?

1 - you don't gain levels when in the tutorial zone

 

2 - you can gain skills

Hmm, thanks.

When I try to exit the tutorial area, the game crashes. The screen goes black and I get a popup saying 'Oblivion has stopped working'.

Any thoughts?

does your video chipset meet the requirements for this game

 

(yes some will play the tutorial then crash when exiting to the actual game)

Yes it does:

HD5770 1GB

4GB RAM

Core2Quad 2.5Ghz

 

So the specs aren't the problem.

Okay, I tried to run it without mods (disabled everything in the modmanager). It still crashed. I also tried to run it w/ administrator rights, without any luck either.

I'm using Vista x64.
