Infinit350
Well, I just got Oblivion and I was wondering which mods are worth getting for a first playthrough.Do you mod Oblivion like you mod Fallout 3? Just curious because if so I should get the hang of it fast as I have had hundreds of hours amassed modding and playing a modded Fallout 3. TehBuddha
Modding Oblivion is extremely similar to modding fallout 3. The CS is almost exactly the same as the GECK, which makes it exedingly easy to get to grips with if you have GECK experience. As for mods, I'd recomend OOO (oscuro's oblivion overhaul) or MMM (Martigens monster mod). MMM is very similar to Marts Mutand Mod in terms of what it does. hellbishop
I agree using OSCURO'S OBLIVION OVERHAUL Is the way to go. It makes the game world very realistic and more believable immersing the player in a setting that is not focused on them. You will find yourself running from many opponents at first who are just too tough for a unexperianced low skilled character to take on. As you improve your sense of reward will be great as you meet these same foes again and are able to defeat them. Then again you might be the type who wont give up no matter what and defeat some pretty tough characters even at a low level. Either way you will have your hands full. Theres also alot of cool visual realism in OSCURO'S OBLIVION OVERHAUL like torches that get dropped to the ground during combat when switching to a two handed weapon but stay lit and can be picked up again afterwards. Chests that actually open before your eyes so you can always tell if you look in them when you come across them again. Posters and signs on city walls telling the city folk of the going ons in and out of the city along with the different dangers in the wilderness and how to best avoid them. I would pretty much just use this incredible mod first then add in other once your confident enough to experiment with mods you may feel will enrich further what you are looking for in gameplay. kidwitthafro
i'd recommend playing the game normally, and after you've beaten it, or while your beating it, think about things you'd like to improve then use mods as the answer. if you must get started though, i wouldn't start with something huge like OOO. i'd start with the simple visual things: darnified dark ui for example. VileTouch
i'd recommend playing the game normally, and after you've beaten it, or while your beating it, think about things you'd like to improve then use mods as the answer. if you must get started though, i wouldn't start with something huge like OOO. i'd start with the simple visual things: darnified dark ui for example. Although you are probably right (the play-the-vanilla-game-first-then-mod speech) i think that vanilla oblivion really suck. don't get me wrong, i love the game, but what i mean is that mods (specially big mods, like COBL, MMM OOO Francescos...heck!, FCOM!) make the game SOO varied and enjoyable, that you end up thinking damn... to think i lost so many hours of my life playing vanilla when i could have had all this from the begining!, i mean, it makes you think why oblivion wasn't like that to begin with? i learned the lesson quite late myself! i was level 30 when i first used a mod.... and it was a housemod! because for some reason, vanilla houses you spend your hard earned money on, suck!, because they don't have enough containers, and even if they had, they will not ever have enough containers anyway!, you get to level 30 and you are the god of cyrodiil!, you get SO many COOL things that you want to keep (provided you have fcom at least)but you have no place to collect things!, to show off your deeds, i mean, in one of my houses i have a room full of trophies!, on another room i have every runeskull available (by adventuring, not grabbing them from the testinghall), i have a room exclusive for the myths and legends mod!, i had found every weapon and that's freaking cool!, i mean those are works of art, why have them stashed in an old barrel in a corner of a house? damn... i gotta leave now, but i'll keep on with my rant later :))
