Retexture head mesh as hood?

Good afternoon everyone.

 

I've lately thought I'd try and mod an armor based on the Hammerites from the old Thief games, using existing meshes as I lack the skills to make my own. The problem is that the armor uses very tight fitting hoods, and none of the ones in the game really fit the bill. Haven't seen any modded ones that look right either.

 

Then I thought I could try and set up a head mesh as wearable armor, and somehow texture that so parts of it would look like a hood. Needless to say, I just got a baldy in my game (with red ear tips, mind). Can what I'm suggesting even be done using just NifSkope? I don't own Blender and wouldn't be able to use it anyway.

 

I'm hoping one of you more experienced modelers could pick up this request... basically make a hood mesh the shape of a head mesh, with the face part cut off. Here are a couple of pictures for reference:

It's not exactly what you want, but have you tried retexturing the ragged cap? (00013104) It's the one some beggars wear and it's really tight-fitting. WIth a good texture you could cover up the holes :)
