Hey guess what they are officially bringing ps2 backwards compatibility back to the ps3, i on the other hand enjoy it with my 60gb, still wouldn't mind playing dreamcast games though, witch is also rumoured to go on the ps3 :thumbsup:

Finally! I had a 60gb until it was stolen. Had to get an 80gb through the insurance, which really annoyed me because I couldn't play any of my PS2 games.

 

Now, I can play Dark Cloud again! YAY!

Well i might buy them all again to save my cd's, if Gran Turismo 4 is going to be HD'ed i might buy it again, its getting pretty scratched :( .

I think the ps2 is, i mean have you been to a EB game store yet, they are removing all ps2 games from the shelves, at least the one i went to. Makes me think, it could be very well be happening and EB knows it :mellow: .

Original post is incorrect: it seems Sony is planning more PS2 ports for the PS3, rather than restoring backwards compatibility. That said, Dreamcast ports are definitely on the horizon, starting with Sonic Adventure. 360 and PC version too.

It may use the cell for the loading and the onboard chipset. lets hope the loading and graphics are a lot better then there ps2 origins ah. I certainly will by all my games again for the loading times alone, GT4 was bad for that, not to mention stutter issues.

 

This is real by the way, they are going to be in the ps3 store. or on bd disks, you never know.

 

it may not be backwards compatibility, but its sure is close, maybe better. If you request it they will make it happen.

wait, so the 60gb systems could play PS2 games? I just bought a 120GB model the other day, and the documentation said it couldn't play PS2 games, which I found slightly disappointing since there are a couple PS2 titles I'd like to play(My PS2 was also stolen by my ex, who sold it for gas money). What I don't get is what happened to all the PS exclusive franchises from earlier systems.
