AlphaRebel
I'm looking for some help getting Fallout 3 to start on Windows 7. Once I hit play from the launcher the game crashes immediately. So far, I have done the following to try to get it to work:Updated Games for Windows LiveUpdated Games for Windows MarketplaceDownloaded and installed the mod Games for Windows Live DisablerDownloaded the Unofficial Fallout 3 patchEdited the fallout.ini with the following lines so they are now; bUseThreadedAI=1 followed by iNumHWThreads=2Ran the game in a windowed modeRan the game in compatibility mode for XP and VistaDisabled the second monitorSet the properities of the fallout.exe to disable desktop compositionI have done multiple combinations of the above so far with no success and am no longer sure what to even try to get it to work so any solutions would be much appreciated. BlackRampage
True, but the I7-2600 has an integrated graphics processor too. Definitely worth a try.
Purr4me
all it does is lie to the game, tells the game it's an Nvidia system. all you can do is try, it is just a single file.if it works ? great. if not? then we do it another way. Default C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\commonthat means you may have permissions involved and is preventing the game from even running. Windows will not allows changes to any files sitting in that directory, no edits, no runtime changes. Steam....IS...supposed to take care of that.sense you have this problem, it's safet osay it has not taken care of that problem and given all it contains (Elevated privileges) so, due to the conflicts involved, you need to think / out think the operating system, we Go around the "permission garbage"Go to this (Default C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\.......(fallout3)right click that Green high lighted folder and select copy. Go to the root of the drive you want to run the game on. right click the drive and select paste. The whole game will now be out of harms way, from this point, you need to think out of the box. yes, you will hae two games on the drive or PC, no, you do not delete the old one, leave it there. No you do not use steam anymore for the game. Yes, you use the launcher in the game folder you just made. C:\user\user name\My Documents\fallout3\ fallout.ini <---delete that. C:\users\user name\ Apps\Local\fallout3\ (Plugins.fo3viewsettings) <---delete that. Run the game launcher, set up the graphics in there, all of it. close it and reopen it, verify now the card is seen.Run the game.Game runs? ok proceed to do other things. Game does NOT run? come back and post what took place.Remember, I am not there so I have no idea what your going to be seeing. you need to give me, type out what you see take place so I can help you determine what's wrong. Intel i7-2600, and if it helps any the card is an AMD Radeon HD 6770 Is a typical system and you should not even have these problems.this means that networking stuff screwed up some where , the digital download is corrupted or the data is not there to see the graphics card.fallout 3 will load instantly if all data is correct, I mean like right now ! Boom ! it's there.fallout 3 is a great tool to use to show the user their system is not setup right.the system needs to be in full compliance for the game before you get to even use it.kitty
