Heat concerns...

Recommended Posts

I am running Dual gpu's.

All the fans are running through a fan speed controller and are knocked right down speedwise, 3 are shoving air in, 4 are taking it out.

Result, massive air in, massive air out, nearly silent operation, I hate noise too.

"I've always been one for silent operation over heat efficiency. I like my computer to be seen but not heard because there's nothing more irritating than hearing the whirrrr of your fans during the quiet moments of gaming or movie watching. With that in mind you should never need more than two fans: one bringing air in and one bringing air out. Get silent operating fans and lower their RPMs to reduce noise even more. Anything after that is overkill unless you're running dual GPUs or something silly."

Not wanting to blow up my components or somethingsuch, I have trouble finding good info on good temps for my GPU and CPU

My core2duo 3ghz runs at 65c during load in oblivion. Never more.

whileas my radeon 5770 can reach temps up to 68 degrees. while under load.

I run the game on like, highest settings the ingame UI will let me, without AA and AF set to 8x I think. Lots of performance sapping mods, so yeah I guess I'm running my system pretty hard. Not that I mind the actual performance loss, no. Heat worries me however.

The C2D is stock everything I think and the Radeon 5770 is factory OC'd.

Right now I only have one case fan, so it might be a good idea to invest in a new one for the front intake? Of course that means I have to saw off a bit off of my front plate, but eh, rather have a ghetto looking computer that works than a burning heap of silicone/plastic.

Using CPUID Hardware Monitor.

65c is a good temp, my case under heavy load in Crysis gets that hot, my gtx470 in idle runs around 35c. That's actually a really good temp you have there. Now over 80 degrees now that's something to worry about.

look for the slow down temp of your card, mines around 120c.
