Oblivion Terrain Texture

Hey there.

I'm making a new house out in the open, I'm working on the garden but when I go to paint the terrain with a dirt texture it doesn't appear, although it does in the next cell, why can you only paint certain cells certain textures and not the way you want? it makes no sense. is there a way to modify this in the Construction set ini file? I've found the part where it says stuff about the Lanscape.

[Landscape]

fLandFriction=2.5000

iLandBorder2B=0

iLandBorder2G=0

iLandBorder2R=0

iLandBorder1B=0

iLandBorder1G=255

bCurrentCellOnly=0

bPreventSafetyCheck=0

fLandTextureTilingMult=2.0000

uDefColor15=0

uDefColor14=0

uDefColor13=0

uDefColor12=0

uDefColor11=0

uDefColor10=0

uDefColor09=0

uDefColor08=0

uDefColor07=0

uDefColor06=0

uDefColor05=0

uDefColor04=0

uDefColor03=0

uDefColor02=0

uDefColor01=0

uDefColor00=0

fRColorB=1.0000

fRColorG=1.0000

fRColorR=1.0000

fLColorB=0.0000

fLColorG=0.0000

fLColorR=0.0000

iOpacity=100

iFalloff=75

iRadius=15

iFlags=3

Is there any way to modify them so you can paint where you like and not in certain cells?.

yours sincerely

It's not that it's limited to certain cells. Landscape textures are layered and blended but there is a set limit to the number of textures that can be present in a single cell quad. Most of the time the last one used cancels out the first but sometimes the one your trying to use is already been maxed and the only way to reset it is to cycle through different textures spraying a little of each one until you find one that resets the first one used. You will know when it happens because a large number of them will change. When this occurs switch to no texture and erase the blend in the area your trying to alter. The no texture texture is the default dirt found in empty cells. Success rate with this technique has been about 75%. The only other way to get around this glitch is to reset the entire cell( through object creation in the region editor) but you can just imagine the amount of work that creates not to mention the huge record change.

You can easily change textures in a cell but many people do not know how.

(1) Click on an object and hit "T" to orient the map so that north is on the top. Press "B" to see cell boundaries.

(2) Go into landscape editor.

(3) Select an existing texture in the cell you want to edit by pressing control while right-clicking on a texture.

(4) Step 3 sets it up so that when you press the letter "I" button all the textures of your cell pop up in a box. Because of step 1, the box will be oriented like your cell. The textures are printed out by quadrant, and the quadrants match how your map is laid out if you oriented it to north at top in step 1.

(5) Right click and replace some textures to be exactly the same as some other textures. You can only have nine textures in a cell-quadrant. Find the least important textures with the lowest percentage of use and change them to one of the textures with a higher percentage of use. Each texture you remove means one more texture you can add.

(6) Exit this box when you are done replacing textures, and go paint your cell however you want.

Trees with animated leaves that blow in the wind cannot be rotated. There are certain non-animated trees such as the burned Kvatch trees, and Shivering Isles mushroom trees that can be rotated.

I've just rotated two trees by selecting both and then right click and pull away but they both are still parellel to the camera.

Hmm, interesting. why has Bethesda locked them?.

There has to be a way to rotate them, if you look in the construction set in the grid "Wilderness(54, -4)" just right of the four rocks in a square-type pattern there's a bush that has been rotated so that it's on it's side, take a look. (I'm building my house there).

So if that's been done there has to be a way.
