Cave Names

There are a great many caves and usually in several sections. Bethesda have given them interesting and often evocative names. But, on the whole, the names seem not to reflect anything about the caves. It wouldn't have taken much to put red rubies in Red Ruby cave or shape Shinbone Cave to resemble one.

I don't have the guide book but AFAIK there is no explanation of who was the boy lost in the Lost Boy Cavern, or Outlaw Endre (please correct me if I have missed something).

I did observe the drunken goblin in the Newt cave. But I'm not sure if the pun was intended as there are passed out gobbos in other caves too!

Has anyone come across any explanations of names in the game or does anyone have any fanciful ideas to regale us with for Broken Promises cave or the Halls of the Black Queen (in Unmarked cave) etc?

Nah I've always thought it was stupid that a cave has a name at all. I mean you walk up and put your cursor on the door and bam there is a name courtousy of the us postal service? BS... I do agree, 99% of the time the names are just retarded picked out. Finger bowl cave? Sink hole cave? WHAAA? How about "A cave entrance" then you name it...

Well there is also "empty cave" which was full of goblins.... Goblin warlords, at my level, who are really strong! :D

My mage died a few times, it was one of the rare moments I had to use potions :P

Goblin Jims Cave...it is named right. I was fighting through a bunch of goblins, when I found *small spoiler* Goblin Jim. He was actually a human...it was interesting.

Not quite the reaction I had.

There I was, in Goblin Jim's Pantry, when I come up towards the end and meet a gang of three goblins. As they sight me, I hear a cultured voice saying "Well, well. well. What do we have here?" and all I could do was gape and think 'Holy crud— that goblin talked! '
