Ok, PLEASE HELP!

Here's the lowdown... So, I got a new computer (Alienware M15x) and outfitted it with some pretty tight specs so I can set things on the highest with out a cinch, and that was just fine for me up untill I got around to re-installing my oblivion game (new computer, had to).

So, I downloaded quite a few mods, my best guess is around 30 - 40 of them. So I get into the game, and Its so choppy I dont even want to play. So, I turn the graphics at the very lowest setting, just as bad as before. So, I have come here to ask you guys what I should do. Now, just to fore warn you, I might need some help if Im going to reinstall drivers, or defrag, as I have never done it before. Also, it isnt just fights, it is everywhere.

Anyways here are the specs.

Windows 7 (64 bit)

Intel® Core i7 cpu (quad core) @1.60 GHz (2.80 GHz turbo)

6 GB RAM

500 GB Hard Drive

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M 1GB

If there are more specs to be needed, just tell me what I need to put up there.

A few questions first:

Did you try playing it totally vanilla to see if you were still getting a slow gaming experience? This way you can clarify if it is any particular mod or not.

Did you already optimize your computer? Often new computers come with a lot of junk software installed, and those programs can be running in the background and slow down your gaming experience.

Do you have automatic scans on your anti-virus? I've had this happen where I was playing, and the auto-scan kicked on and suddenly my game was slow and choppy.

Hope these questions help.
