bben46
First, Find out what version your disk has (unpatched) If you have the GOTY version, and have installed the second (Shivering Isles) disk then you do not need a patch. To find the version number, look in the lower left corner on the brown start screen. If you do not have SI, then use the Oblivion only patch for your language version (UK if your disk is UK) Be sure to start the game and make a save before patching. If you do have SI, but not the GOTY do not patch until after SI is installed. Install Oblivion first. Make a save - this initializes the Oblivion.ini file. DO not patch yet. Then install SI and start the game and make a save (you do not have to visit SI, a save in the prison cell is fine) Now install the English language SI patch ONLY (there is only one for both US & UK versions) If this doesn't work, you may need to do a complete uninstall - the uninstall on the disk does not work! it leaves things behind. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus. It includes installing the patch at the proper time and place.http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=
