Merlow
Alrighty, I've checked around the forums for a problem similar to mine, but none of the solutions work, so here it goes: I have Fallout 3 GOTY and I just installed it and the second DVD, installing the DLC and the 1.7 patch. Before I installed the patch, the game would run fine, but with the patch the game will attempt to boot, and then CTD. Any help would be much appreciated. Fonger
installing the second disk installs the 1.7 patch re-installing the patch is a recipe for disaster so don't
Merlow
Sorry, I didn't phrase my first post appropriately. I meant that when I installed the second DVD, which in turn installs the 1.7 patch, It doesn't boot. I've tried with just the DLC, and it works. It's when 1.7 is applied in any way shape or form, be it from a fresh install and using the GOTY's second DVD to individually installing all of the DLCs and the 1.7 patch separately. Fonger
I installed the second DVD. . .. I've tried with just the DLC, and it works. Ok, since you seem to be able to get the second disk to do something consider an alternative 1 - install disk 1 2 - install the 1.7 official patch from bethesda 3 - install all the DLC from disk 2 otherwise, if I'm reading your post incorrectly 1 - install disk 1 2 - put disk 2 in 3 - read "War and Peace" 4 - that was not a joke the securom on the second disk likes to be geologically slow. Merlow
Okay, when I tried to boot Fallout after the 1.7 update and before applying the DLC, it just CTD. I'm at a loss.
Merlow
Okay, I feel like a I have to kick myself in the ass. One, thank you very much Fonger for the advice. It was helpful (Especially with the 2nd DVD).Two, I fixed some of the compatibility issues with the EXE by checking the last three check boxes: Disable Visual Themes; Disable Desktop Composition; Disable display scaling on high DPI settings. Done and Done.
