Risenz Posted June 3, 2010 Share Posted June 3, 2010 Hey people. Just started creating my new modlist. I don't think this is necessarily a mod problem, but rather an ini problem, but anyway. I was just editing it in tweakoblivion for the first time, and managed to screw it up so that the water was practically non-existant and the grass kept disappearing. SO, I tried to get my backup in, which didnt work, and then deleted it, thinking it might make a fresh one when it started up. It did, but it didn't work. Then, I tried resetting the dates, load order, lod and stuff in desperation. No avail. So, I finally accepted I'd have to reinstall. Did that. And Bashed and Bossed and OBMMed but it was no use. So, I decided to make this. Notes: I am running the English fully patched disc version of the game.I use OBSE with pluggy, OBGE, FastExit 2 and weOCPS, elys silent voice universalThere are no problems according to BOSS, Tes4Edit and Wrye BashIt can get to the starting screen but when I go to start a new game, it gets to just under 1/4 of the way there but crashes to desktopNo error message :( So far, I have:re-ordered my mod list by hand and by bossmoved the settings and saves out of the documents foldertried various combinations of OBSE/non-OBSEChecked for conflicts or problems My modlist (if it helps) from the boss log: Oblivion.esm . It didn't seem to earlier, must have been something to do with OBSE plugins. Well... where to go from here? I don't like playing modless. Any ideas what the problem mod might have been? David Brasher Posted June 4, 2010 Share Posted June 4, 2010 Oblivion is very complex. One mod can totally ruin your whole setup and make it so you can't play. I would advise you to drastically alter your approach. Don't do what you are doing. I suggest that you install one mod. Play Oblivion for one hour. If everything is cool, then add another mod. Play for one hour. (Keep careful records of what order you installed your mods in for when you break your system.) If everything is cool, then add another mod. One hour is not really enough. It would be better to install one mod per day and play-test all evening. But I sense that you are in a hurry. So if you have 150 mods you want to install, I really think you ought to slowly install them and have 150 hours of play-testing time. Play-testing is fun! You could beat the main quest and explore a bunch of dungeons and play a bunch of side quests. When your build finally breaks (which it will) you can blame the very last mod you installed instead of being hopelessly lost. If you play Oblivion a bunch, you could have all your mods installed and working within a month. An alternate approach would be to download a proven modlist that somebody uses and has play-tested extensively.
