Normal Map for HeadHuman not showing up

I have modified headhuman_n.dds to be a little more detailed with lip shine etc. and at first I thought it wasn't showing up in game because character selection didn't show the changes, but after playing for a while, I notice that only a very few NPC's have the new normal map and my character doesn't at all. The NPC's I've noticed are Hasathil (a wood elf in Anvil) and Gloom (a Redguard added by the Ruined Tail's Tale mod). Very weird! Anybody know why this could be?

When a normalmap is not there, the texture will show up as pure black, so I'm guessing that's not your problem. My guess is that you edited a normalmap that is only used by haskill's and gloom's face. Most races use the normalmap in characters/imperial. The other option is that you edited an age map, make sure you edited humanhead_n.

Are you sure you kept the file path intact? Otherwise, do you have any cosmetic mods installed?

How much changes did you make? Try to go crazy with the normalmap, if nothing changes Im outta ideas, if something does change you simply didn't edit enough to be visible

Changed the map (scribbled on it :p) and still nothing. Weird!

The thing is- Hasathil and Gloom look great, exactly how I wanted the normal map to be... So it's definitely picking the texture up from somewhere.
