silenzer
Solved, just had to delete the my documents/my games/oblivion directory. Okay so recently I uninstalled Oblivion due to severe unstability caused by mod conflicts. Not able to deal with the issues, I decided it would be best to do a clean install. So I reinstalled Oblivion and applied the English 1.2 patch. Now the game crashes on launch.I'm not a computer expert so I'm kind of short on logic here. Can anyone give me some tips on this? Fonger
did you remove your surviving folders after the uninstall?? otherwise mod remnants are still active
Nickelz
You should remove the Oblivion's files before re-installing. Most impoertant to delete is the Data file which contains all the modifications, meshes, textures etc. of your previous "version".
silenzer
Yes I forgot to remove the folders the first time, but realised it so I reinstalled and remembered to delete the folders.
roquefort
Also you should purge the registry of anything connected with Oblivion. Use Ccleaner to remove any dead registry entries after you uninstall Oblivion and all its parts. (Ccleaner is a free-to-download utility for cleaning junk from your hard drive. It will also uninstall software). Edited June 5, 2010 by roquefort
Risenz
Try deleting or moving anything in, by default (so yours may be different) Documents/My Games/Oblivion. This will contain all the previous saves (you might want to keep those) and the oblivion.ini (configuration file) with the settings from your previous installation. Oblivion should make a new ini when it first starts but make a backup just in case. Good luck :)
bben46
When you use the game uninstaller, it leaves a lot behind that can come back and byte you when you reinstall. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexushttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=
