allomerus
Hello everyone! I'm very close to releasing my very first mod =: D But there's still one thing I want to do to make it perfect and get this whole thing outta my head once and for all. What I want to do is to create a ''dark'' version of Azura's Star, a soulgem using a custom mesh that is re-usable and can trap humanoid souls. I found it rather intriguing to find that there were no mods featuring such an object (or at least that I couldn't find one), and I started to feel my blood boil when I realized that there was absolutely nothing in TESCS that allowed me to make a difference between normal soulgem and their dark or everlasting siblings. So back to the topic, could anyone tell me what I'm missing, or if there is a way to do this that is beyond my reach (through scripting, for an example), or if there are infos about this somewhere on the Web? I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks for your patience, and have a good day : )
GreatLucifer
Well, there is a mod named something like 're-usable soulgems' or something of the sorts...This uses scripting to make all soulgems reusable. I was quite impressed. How to make one catch humanoid souls though, I have no idea. I worked my ass off trying to make something of the likes myself, but found no solution. If someone knows this answer, I too would LOVE to know. I'll give you kudos if you help me / us out.I really hope this is doable... someone must know! :P Lucifer
Pronam
LinkYou'd have to create your own system if you want to do it differently.
zprospero
Sadly, the black soulgems and Azura's star are hard-coded into the game. So, essentially, it's not possible. This mod is as close as you can get: link It works by giving you a black soul-gem every time you use one when you have the 'Black Azura's Star' in your inventory. allomerus
Ohhh so clooose! But thanks for the info everyone. I had already seen the mod with the black Azura's star but I dare not use it in mine since the author did not say wether or not we can ''copy'' his work... and sadly I'm no scripter. Oh well, this means I'll have to find a new use for my little baby... something more pertinent than a 15.000g piece of loot...
GreatLucifer
Hmmm, ok I read all those links, and understand it works as a channel, thus not being used directly. This is sadly very disappointing.... :( Then, to simplify the matter (either azura or black so to speak), would it be possible to make a copy of Azura's star and give it a custom mesh? (I guess so, but not sure if it'd keep it's function) Besides, an odd situation; I never got the star ingame, but I have given myself copies trough the CS. These were, however, NOT re-usable... would anybody know what causes this, or rather how I can fix it? Thanks to all sofar!
LHammonds
As mentioned, it is hard-coded in the game engine how these gems are handled. Do a search on TESNexus for "Black Soul" and you will find some mods with a different take on how to get around that limitation...such as using merchants, summon alters and transmutating grand gems to black. GreatLucifer
Thanks to all for the help, and will be sure to look for the getaround. Bit sad about the hardcoding part though :( *sniff*
jack254
i dont think you have to hardcode it, i have seen the scripts strangely i think it may be a little against lore, azura is the main good daedra, i dont think she would want her artifact capable of turning evil (not so say soulgems are good)
GreatLucifer
I would if I could, but hardcoding is (for me atleast) impossible... And the azura star was ment as an example, being the only reusable one. My main idea is creating skulls / a skull, able to capture humanoid souls repeatedly. I have indeed found a workaround via scripting, so will basically try to copy a black gem, replace the mesh with a skull of some kind, and add the script. I suppose only time will tell, but I will give it a good shot. And helas, for lore, you don't have to come knocking on my door ;)
