Help with adding/editing new world objects?

The couple of mods I use that expand cities/towns, which may interest you:

If you look in the static list in the Creation Kit, you can find the objects you are looking for (type it in the filter to be more specific) and simply just drag and drop. You only need to NavMesh if you want to alter paths which NPCs walk on and if you are just adding objects in, you don't need to go there. I recommend looking at the Creation Kit website for extensive information. :)

I'm also looking to add houses with NPCs and stuff and so I guess navmesh is required. Navmeshing for the houses? Will that necessary?

Anyway I notice for the place I'm trying to edit (outside a city), there's a lot of these red Spawn markers around the area. What happens if I put my buildings over these markers? Will it cause any problems? It's pretty hard finding any other empty spaces for my houses

The tutorials to make a dungeon or house are the very start for what you are asking about. Follow those tutorials and make a new dungeon or house to familiarize yourself with using the CK to make things. Once you are comfortable then you do the same thing except instead of an interior cell you are out in the Tamriel world space doing the same thing you did in your house/dungeon. Placing items and rotating and adjusting position. There really is not much difference between the 2 procedure wise.

You will need to navmesh in interiors or outside cells. Without navmesh NPC's will not move from point A to B and if you plant a house in Tamriel without fixing the navmesh NPC's will walk right into it and keep walking without moving. This is why you start with an interior and completely do it, navmesh and all. You learn how to do the navmesh in the kiddie pool before jumping into the deep end.

Those red markers CANNOT be buried inside your house, you need to pick a spot with as little going on as possible in the area you want to put the house then after make surethat NPC's will function around it without problems, Take around Whiterun Stables for example, there's a major scene there for the civil war and if you plant a house in the wrong spot you could bugger up that. The only things that can safely be buried are rocks, trees, shrubs... stuff like that. Any markers are either moved to work around the new house or you put the house someplace else depending on what's easier or safer.
