Can't View Oblivion Files?

I already tried googling it but all that comes up is save files, which I'm not trying to view.

I'm using windows vista..

Anyways, the problem is I can't view the original oblivion files! Not through my computer, or the construction set. I know the files are there because they're being used in Construction Set, but when I try to mod on the Construction Set I can't put in any original Oblivion hairs or eye textures, etc. because they're just not showing up on the list. I tried setting the security permission and all that blah, but nothing's there! I wanted to give my dark elf wood elf ears but there's no way for me to select them throuhg the Construction Set.. The only files I can choose and select are custom mod hair that I have downloaded and placed in the data folder

Do the files save somewhere else and I'm just an idiot??

edit - also looking for the eye textures to edit those too

Nevermind, I just figured out all the Oblivion textures are packed up into one file, gonna make a copy and extract elsewhere for my use. Don't think it has anything to do with install location..but thanks anyways

UAC

Remember this when it continues to give you fits.

You know that you can switch it off?

Switching off UAC is a very bad idea, but it really screws up playing with Oblivion. Read about UAC and what it can prevent and you will understand why it is a necessary evil, like taxes.

Yes you can turn UAC off, and you can unlock the door to make it easy for a burglar too. I don't recommend either. The best solution is to relocate the game outside of the UAC protected area.

The purpose of UAC is to deny any virus that manages to get passed your firewall and Antivirus program the ability to make any changes to protected files without your permission. There is no reason for a game program to be installed there. MS should have restricted their UAC protection to system files and those you specifically want protected instead of allowing, and almost insisting, that all programs be placed there by default.

An example of the kind of change that a virus makes - it disables you AV program and blocks any attempt to turn it back on. Then it redirects any request to update the AV to a file that tells you it is working and it is up to date.

For a full uninstall and reinstall

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.
