Why I prefer Oblivion to Skyrim...

@rs13 Lack of classes is a big deal because it was in every single game!!! and it was more profound in both Arena and Daggerfall Morrowind is where things started to change. Skyrim did have some improvements no doubt like the overall combat and the "fallout" perk system.... the perk system in fact fix the skill system because you could of always be proficient in an skill but then killed the character advancement system when they removed the classes. In the earlier games both Morrowind and oblivion it was important to choose a class at start but since it's based solely on skill end game it didn’t matter as Arena and Daggerfall added what classes were really about....thats being unique! They could of made the class system into a separate perk tree each class having a different tree of its own to allow classes to be truly unique but they drop the ball on that one.

RPG means something to me its called roll playing game like it or not part of that identity to roll playing is your class, if class means nothing then so does race because that is just consumed by stats running in the background just like the 8 attributes that were removed. Dark Elfs are known for resistance of fire damage and Nords of cold, maybe we should remove that because it no longer matters its only stats. Take all the main attributes out of any character in dungeons & dragons pen and paper also the classes and tell me what kind of game you will get in result, I'll tell you its a hole lot of nothing!!!!

When you start ripping out very old traditional elder scrolls elements like classes you get a water down hollow rpg. I don’t look at graphics, textures, faces or for that matter animation as improvements because thats an natural process of a game improving its series, That sort of stuff should never be expected by any gamer. I'll look at the improvement upon the existing elements or added concepts.

I'm talking about taking out real content out of the base game I guess atleast Bethesda is not like EA games to witch they will take out base content then repackage it as dlc...Wait that might be good 120$ later after buying all the dlc to the content that was ripped out.

I'm sure the persuade system could have been done better in oblivion skyrims combat as good as it is could always be better theres always room for improvement. Things you shouldn’t do is to just remove systems out of the game like repairing your gear talk about a major immersion killer for me, They had hammers in the game but they never did nothing. Crafting was really always in the game you had spell making and alchemy...armor and weapon making is an improvement in that area but then for some odd reason you cant make spells anymore. The bad lvling scaling in oblivion is a very common complaint thats still exist in skyrim its just far less noticeable a Morrowind approach would have been better.
