Dual weapons

Anyone know of any good dual weapons mod in the works? Either a mod that has a pair of blades as 1 item, or a mod that allows you to equip 2 different weapons in either hands (that latter seems liek it would be more difficult but would be much more preferable)

I don't think there are any that have been released. I've seen a few YouTube videos, however. But none of those have shown up. If one is released, I bet I'll be among the hundreds jockeying to be first to download.

Mods like that aready exist. Having dual weapons as 1 item is just a simple modeling job (I can't do it, but there are plenty out there. They need to be tagged as 1h and shield in the CS). As for equiping any weapon in the off hand: The oblivion system forces it to be regognised as a shield, so all the damage would come from the main hand weapon, with the offhand giving any defensive stats (and taking away magic proficiency due to the armor type (unless you can have cloth shields)). It therefore requires a mesh for the weapon to be rigged up as a shield (half the first option) which isn't too hard, but would need to be done for every weapon of interest.

 

The bit I'm looking for is an animation replacer. Idle still has the offhand sword drawn, which looks ridiculous with most weapons. If someone could make an animation which would sheath 2 weapons (1 item taking up 1h and shield. To replace the stock putting-weapon-away animation), and possibly another which would change the normal attack animation to use both arms, I'd be eternally gratefull.

 

I've noticed that if you keep swinging, the first 2 swings always go in the same position, but after that the remainder seem to be chosen at random. ie, Swinging up from the left, up from the right etc (left -> right, but the up down is random). I know nothing about animations, but how hard would it be to change some of those positions to use the offhand instead?

 

Adonay's Elven Weaponry (I think that's it) has shields using the weapon meshes for some of the daggers/swords in the mod. Switching an arbitary weapon to the offhand is impossible though. The mesh and item needs to be created outside Oblivion.

Ah, yeah, I've seen plenty of mods that use swords as shields. It would be nice to be able to hit things with the other weapon as well, despite its being nearly impossible in Gamebryo. I wonder what Bethesda was thinking when they forgot to include dual wielding.

It would've taken them a while to add it; having to rejig all the meshes for all weapons, new animations etc. Guess it just wasn't worth the time to add it in, or mabey they were running out of space? But hey, that's what these communities are for. Filling in the gaps.

 

I don't know how the game attaches animations to actions, It might have to be that dual weapons are tagged as 2H and the 2H animation is replaced. I could live with that if it wasn't possible to attach an animation to a certian weapon type.

 

Replacing the block animations would work even better, if you could use block for an offhand weapon swing. Ahhhh.... Pipe dreams, how I love thee.
