Fly Me To The Moon

Gravity cannot be removed but, as in the real world, you can work around it.

Since many objects in the game (e.g. statics and containers) are not affected by gravity, flying mods work by keeping an invisible, static-like plane under the player at all times. This gives the visual impression of flying / floating.

But the main issue here is that the player, NPCs, and creatures cannot be tilted in any way. They are always vertical.

Therefore you cannot turn the player upside down so he has his feet on the moon and the real Tamriel above his head.

So, to give the visual impression that the player is in some odd, non-vertical angle, instead of tilting the player, you have to turn everything else, while the player remains vertical. This is what I did in that conceptual mod. And this is why I said you have to turn the Tamriel-like sphere, the moon-like sphere and the sky sphere around the player, so the player seems to be turning around in mid travel.

I am not familiar with the game magic system or how the player stats, like agility, may be tweaked to be used here. I suppose this may be an alternative approach, as AltreU says.

I know how to create some of the basic things in Blender, up to completing that bridge in the Blender tutorials book (So glad my library carries it). I just can't get things to export from Blender, as NifScripts won't install without Python and Python keeps bugging up.

Not to get off topic, but you can get Blender with the python and what not all est to go from here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12248

Python wasn't working for me, until I used that version.

But don't get off topic here.

There could be a Dwemer "Airship" which is essentially the antigravity interior shown in the previously posted video. Then, much like in the bloated float, when you want to arrive, you rest in the ship, then leave onto the moon. The dwemer are quite clever.

Oops I just sent you back your own statement as a reply. I didn't mean to. My idea is to actually experience the flight to the moon as well as the arrival. I don't want to use tricks like going to sleep and waking up on the moon.

Oh and thanks for the link.

Hi Guys Captainscar Here,

Idea for the Intermediate Cell

When you enter the cell you could possibly have an item added to you that gives you the TCL effect for example

Also another thing what if there was another option for less patient people (Me) that gives you a dwemer Ship to fly to it.

One More thing before I go and jump off white gold tower. There are Flight anims for wing meshes so you could make an invisible pair of wings that adds a flying effect.

Done and over

Regards, Captainscar /Idiot

I've been playing with a sky diving mod myself today and also there is a mod to give you a much higher place to jump from. It's called watch Tamriel from the sky. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9102 It basically consists of a big block of stone hanging really high in the sky so you can stand there and contemplate your life or rather the life of your pc just before cause him to jump off. Added to this I have the My Flight Spell: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5244 and the Sky Dive Jump mod: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30601 and you could say I was having just a bit too much fun seeing just how long I could hold out before casting flight on my pc and saving here from being crushed to death on the cold stone at the edge of the water. One more thing you can do is get the slaughter fish mod: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23454 this way even if you do land nice and softly in the lake you aren't necessarily safe. Those little buggers can be a real pain. Now back on the subject I think I have seen a mod that makes a flying pc something about a fairy race. they look natural in flight not at all as if they are standing on air. This is worth looking further into. Thanks for your input.

Okay, this thread has officially reached the number of replies it needs to get someone to start working on it. If someone could make a large sphere with collision, I can start working on it after I'm done with this awesome idea I had for a true Bag of Holding.

Hey, suppose it weren't in its own worldspace at all, but rather just a huge round-ish platform, similar to the Ministry of Truth in Vivec. Much higher up, of course. I'm just imagining a giant chain the player could climb, but that'd get boring very very fast.

It'd lose the effect, though, better to find a way to launch the player towards the moon very fast.

We'll need a better idea of how to get the player up there.

Ideas that won't work:

1. Making the player fast travel there

2. Making the layer sleep in a ship

3. Teleportation?

4. Climbing up by hand

Also, I figure I don't quite need a sphere to do it. I can retexture a large rock with a moon-like texture, and build it like a sphere; that way it's rocky and uneven, like a real moon.

One problem with the launching thing: The moons change position. Perhaps some scripting can be used so you can only launch yourself up there at a certain time of day, and make a teleport spell you can get once you've gone up there the first time, so you don't always have to wait until that time.

True bag of holding? Interesting. I have one mod like that but tell me when you finish it. I'd love to see what your version is like.

Ok if we're gonna do this I think it would be helpful to put together a list of possibly helpful mods and modders so this goes out to anyone who wants to get involved in this idea. I have a great story in mind and have been working on it a little bit but it's going to take some time to put into actuall words so we have a reason to go to the moon in the first place. I'd say a week all together Though it may have to go to a seperate string so as not to get things confused. This string should be kept to the technical stuff and the story can be linked to it in another string. As far as getting there, I have only a couple suggestions. I don't really like the idea of launching the pc to the moon because it makes the idea too sci fi. I want the player/character to get there in a manner that allows the player to experience the entire trip right down to "splash down" the first time in a magical way using spells and possibly a craft of some kind but even this has to be beautiful, no Dwemer skyship. I want Elven magic not Dwemer science. Then as has been suggested a way to fast travel via some teleportation device could be earned at the end of our quest that will allow the traveler to choose to fast travel or once again experience the trip through space. Yesterday I was playing with a mod that made falling look like skydiving and another that let you jump off a big block of stone in the sky higher than anything I've found so far. I gotta tell ya it was a hoot. The landing leg of the journey could be like this. Try the mods out and see for yourself. The links to them are in my earlier comment to Captainscar but I'll add them here as the first in what I am sure will become a long list. Watch Tamriel From The Sky: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9102 The My Flight Spell: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5244 The Sky Dive Jump Mod: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30601. Try them out together. Sky diving from such a high vantage and using the my flight spell as a kind of parachute is awesome!

Ok my new found friend, so what do you think so far?
