Mercbird
Good point on both, I'd just have to cook "special" meals, when I felt like it  Again just fallout, thanks for reminding me. Gimme Alistair! :woot: Or do I just want something that does not exist, like the NIN song? I mean Alistair is so not real, and I had a full on crush on him ... aaargh >runs of to her therapist< Hi Mercbird, i think there are guys in the real world like Alistair. He reminds me to the guys you have a crush on but the don't realise it. In my opinion he is a one of the guys standing with his friend around on a party and tries hardly not to speak to girls. A little bit shy, a sweet way if you ask me  , so the girl has to do the first step. The problem with these types is they don't realise it  But if you have him he will always be there for you :teehee:I remeber two men I had relationships with that have that Alistair sweetness about them, and others with the goofball humour or the looks. But in a fantasy setting the crap bits of life with Alistair have surely been glossed over, so its easy to idealize him. But he is handy if I need to indulge in a fantasy a bit, I can also substitute one of the two real guys, if I want. Having it all may still just me in the land of fantasy for me, making my current re-definition of what I want in a real man, well, a work in progress. > cancels the apointment with therapist, and goes and buys beer instead<
SaturnC
> cancels the apointment with therapist, and goes and buys beer instead<LOL!!! I agree! I game simply to escape my life in the real world--I NEED fantasy. I always said, Freud would have a heyday with me and my games. I have a "real" man in real life, he's totally awesome and I have no desire to look further, but it's nice to have Big Al in my game. To add to this discussion, I've just started playing Mass Effect and I feel Kaidan falls into this category also, he's an earlier version of Alistair only instead of having his feet firmly planted on terra firma, he's got his moon-boots on. I haven't played games with romance in them (aside from The Sims) until Dragon Age and now Mass Effect and I gotta say, I love them! Real men, sexy men, men, men...it's all good. ;)
ell46
Stardusk I think SaturnC has pretty much answered your question. A real man isn't judged by one thing alone it's a package as above. Just in case you think I might be some simpering helpless female, I'm not and never have been and my man is proud of that, but he doesn't sit back thinking 'oh she's tough she can deal with it' I let him be the man he is because it suits me to be the woman, but I'm no door mat either. SpellAndShield
What exactly is a real man? :blink:Not my words, just google..._______________________________"A real man is dependable, accountable, focused, cherishes his family, and he takes care of himself so that he can be guide his family. A real man is confident in his choice for a partner and trusts his partners advice and counsel, a real man doesn't judge his house by another man's house and he keeps his house in order. A real man works if he is able and always finds ways to make his partner comfortable. And a REAL man can be trusted." You know--Alistair. ;) http://www.askmen.com/money/mafioso_60/98_mafia.html This sounds more like the description of a domestic slave than that of a real man. I wonder if Alistair fits this? ell46
There is nothing in the definition that says they do house work, what is your definition of a domestic slave? Keeping his house in order doesn't mean he does the hoovering/vacuuming.

That is what I meant, I suppose, though the alternative you suggest is not bad either...

No I don't think the description given is that of someone who kowtows and I wouldn't want a man who kowtows, who could have respect for someone like that.
