tw33z7
I'm trying to make a custom armor with a bonesaw hanging from the belt.I understand that that's a collision misc object ingame. I import it in Blender. I deleted the collision box. Clothes parent fine with armature but the friggin' Bonesaw doesn't.I see it in Nifskope but ingame there's no Bonesaw.Any words of Wisdom, pretty please? tw33z7
It's working :) Kudos Dude. U rule! Now, if you could help me out with this one... The Bonesaw is parented but deforms pretty much when character moves, sneaks, jumps and It's acting like it's made of rubber. I saw in Tailor Maid mod (Tool Belt) that Hammers, Screwdrivers and the rest of the objects in the Tool Belt are not deforming but the belt itself does. I would like the Bonesaw to be kinda holstered and be solid just like any other weapon that is holstered ingame. How can I do that? Thanks! Quetzlsacatanango
As I understand the bone weight copy script, it, err, copies the bone weights of the vertices that are closest. So what you're seeing basically means it worked. So fixing it is a little advanced, I have only done it a few times, but here goes. Make a backup in case I steer you wrong.Highlight your skeletonHit ctrl+tabThen highlight the body/outfit mesh and ctrl+tab. this will take you to weight paint mode, and it will be colored. Blue=zero weight, Red=1 weight, everything else is something in between. You need to make a judgement call on what you want your saw to match. You might choose the belt, or if there are other things hanging from the belt, match one of those. So right click around on the different bones, and see which bone turns your belt (or other chosen area) all red. I would probably even check the tailor maid belt and see how those hanging tools are weighted, and just do the same thing. Once you get that, select your saw instead, ctrl+tab to get in weight paint mode, and click the same bone. On the menu at the bottom, you will see a slider for weight paint. Set it to 1 and cover your whole saw. Hide everything else if you need to get it out of the way. If you miss a vertex funny things will happen. Once you have the saw fully weighted to match your belt, you need to set your slider to 0. Click on all the other bones, and if you see anything besides dark blue, hit it with the weight painter to erase that weight (set it to 0). So if I have explained this well, you should end up with your saw fully weighted to the same bone as the area it is connected to on the body, and not weighted to anywhere else. If someone who knows better knows of a less comlex way to accomplish the same thing, now's the time...
tw33z7
Hm, ok i got some results but I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. The bonesaw is behaving ok (at least it looks like so) when character moves or runs, jumps. But when I crouch (sneak) it deforms pretty much.I'll figure it out. At least I learned what weight painting means. There is bunch of tutorials about that all around. Thanks man for your time. Btw, Tailor Maid tool belt is all red. But my meshes (outfit) ones are mostly blue. ...Nevermind, just wanted to thank you. :)
Quetzlsacatanango
No problem. The color will change depending on which bone you have selected. So find the bone that makes tailor made all red, select the same bone on your mesh, and paint it all red. Paint every other bone all blue. It sounds like you've got a good handle on it. (of course, that's it! ) then you posted this...at that moment those were my thoughts exactly.Cheers! Thank you!
Quetzlsacatanango
You got it.In hindsight, you probably could have just weighted the saw to that bone in the first place. At the time I was only thinking of getting it parented to your skeleton, and that's a trick I usually use to do that. This is how we learn I guess. I'm glad it's working now.
