Onasaki
Alright, first off, I got the Antiquated map mod. And it's NOT *ban* WORKING. Sorry, I'm a bit aggrivated right now, so could someone PLEASE tell me what I'm doing wrong? I installed it just like it said, but it's NOT working. At all. I've reset and reloaded oblivion twice now. Noone *ban* looks at their comments anymore, or answers emails, so the forum is the best bet right now. So, could someone PLEASE help? I also require assistance with the Blackwood Company mod, too. As my Escort guys ran off to places unknown, and I can't complete the quest. Since Lingwei has vanished off the face of the earth, I can't really do a damned thing about it. So, if someone could please help. It'd be very VERY appreciated. I'm just really really annoyed, and the mod makers can't help me. Seriously, what IS up with that? Just because Fallout 3 and DA comes out, everyone jumps ship for Oblivion? Abandons their mods, and stops caring all togather? Seriously. People like me, who have beaten Oblivion 10 million times, want more stuff to do. Oblivion is a great game, despite some of it's problems, and once you've beaten one thing, you want something else to do. It just boggles my mind. Anyway, I'm rambling. Could someone please help me with my problems?
ub3rman123
First of all, that's a terrible attitude to take towards modders. We don't exactly have to make free addons for the game if we aren't quite inclined to do so. Lecture aside, I think I know how to deal with the map addon problem. Open your data folder, at C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data by default. Next, open the downloaded .7z file, and find the folder called textures. Drop the textures folder into the Data folder. It should work from there. If it doesn't, you may need to run the Archive Invalidation program, but I only have to do that with Fallout 3 normally. As for the other mod, I have no idea.
Onasaki
I did that, and I do have Archive Invalidated enabled. I got the Cyrodill map to work, but the Elsweyr map isn't. And I know it's a terrible attitude toward modders, but it really genuinely feels like noone cares about Oblivion anymore, with Fallout and DA. I see alot of good mods that could be worked on more, but alot of those modders seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth. There's maybe.. 2 or 3 mods I've seen that have updated in the last week, while many of them seem to have updated years ago, and never looked back. Sorry, when I posted that last message I was really aggrivated. I want these mods to work, I didn't pay 8 bucks for a game I already have to sit around and have mods not work. It's funny, though, I've beaten the hell out of Oblivion, and got it for the computer to play with the mods. And only play with the mods. Infact, I just downloaded your Shadowfang Keep mod. :P
David Brasher
I downloaded a couple of mods with colored maps which include Elsweyr, and they didn't work. I tinkered and tested and now I know what is going on. One mod changes the visible size of the map so you can see further south than the vanilla map will let you. That cool feature had the ability to cause severe lag, crash the game, and corrupt savegames on the weak computer I was using. So I decided it was better to use maps that are exactly the same dimensions as the vanilla map. The replacer mods without .esps will not work for me. Ugly archive invalidation problems I don't feel like dealing with. So I decided to use a mod with an .esp rather than a pure replacer mod. So now it works great except for one thing. I am having more archive invalidation/load order problems. The mod works great if it is the very last mod in the load order. It does not work at all otherwise. Every time I mod, my utility programs change the end of the load order. So if I want to see my cool colored map, I have to be sure to fix my load order before playing. * * * * If you are a bit of a modder, you could place quest markers on the missing Blackwood company mod NPCs. Then you can find them and continue progressing through the mod. Otherwise, you might look at their AI packages in the CS and see where they might be likely to go. A couple of non-modder suggestions:(1) Fast travel somewhere. Your escorts might teleport to you.(2) Reload a savegame from before they got lost. Onasaki
Sadly I have no modding experience, so the quest marker bit is out of the question, and I tried the teleportation thing. However, the best bet for this? Would be either looking up the ID codes for the mobs, and teleporting to them. Or, reseting the quest via player.setstage. But I don't know how to get that info. As for the map, well, I lack any ESPs for maps, they're all textures. If I had ESPs I'd place them higher in the loading order, but yeah. I got none. On another note, anyone know any of any good music files to put in through Bettermusicsystem?
