Question about mods

Retribution

Recommended Posts

We are not affiliated with Bethesda in any way, and have no say in their policies. We do not own the mods and do not make any claim to ownership of anyone's mods. We just provide a modder friendly place to post them.

By allowing a modder to control their work, we actually get more mods than any site that does violate this. How would you feel if you spent several months creating a work, then were told your work not only doesn't belong to you, but someone else gets to decide what to do with it no matter what you say? If we were to post all mods regardless of the modders wishes, how many mods do you think would be uploaded here?

How many other mod sites do you know of with over 30,000 mods for only 4 games.

Oblivion, 19,785

Morrowind, 1,971

Fallout3, 9,528

Dragon Age, 1,107

Total Mods as of 6/17/2010 - 32,391

We must be doing something right.

Is it true that Bethesda owns all mods made for their games? If it is, why doesn't the Nexus just host every mod, regardless of the modder's wishes?

Well my friend, Bethesda does own what they made, but they don't own the mods, only the resources people used from thier game to make the mods(textures, scripts etc). Everyone is free to do what ever they want with the mods they make as long as they don't charge people. That is why sites like our beloved Nexus exist so that people can share with each other their knowledge and mods so everyone can enjoy playing this awesome game. At least that's how I see it or like to see it.

I couldn't agree more. A few weeks ago I went out net searching for more pose mods. What I found is that other sites in reguards to TES pale in comparison to Nexus, and for the most part their's no reason to go any where else...

Now, if they wanted to, Bethesda Softworks could host all the mods, but it would drive away a lot of the community, as the community would have no control over the fate of their own mods. TESNexus != Bethesda
