ub3rman123
L33! You wouldn't happen to know how to make a normal map non-reflective and non-glossy, would you?
L33Nexus
Hmm, I wouldn't say the normal map is the fault... maybe try turning down the specular slider on your model in blender. other than that I'm not really sure, I've never had to mess around with stuff like that :L
kieranfoy
Hey, L33? Could you also show him how to make the symbol on the blade glow in the dark? You did it awesomely with the Plague Robe.
L33Nexus
EASSSSYYYYY!Ok, your a smart guy... both of you, kieran you could make glowmaps yourself quite simply (It can be done in paint for goodness sake :L Ok say I have your robe texture it's called DarkEldar01.dds... you've slapped that symbol onto where you see fit. Now simply make the symbol white and all the rest black, then save it as DarkEldar01_g.dds (The _g makes the game notice it as a glow map... voila nothing amazing ultra simples :)
ub3rman123
I managed to get the symbol to glow, turns out the problem with that was I forgot to crank the _g through the .dds converter after making it. I'll upload a YouTube video of the sword some time tomorrow. You might like it, I think I accidentally created a mirror.
ub3rman123
I think I found the solution trawling the troubleshooting forums. 2. Open your normal map (in Photoshop or Gimp) and check under the Channels tab. You'll see a list of RGB elements and an Alpha layer. If the Alpha layer is not black or dark gray it will cause shininess. Generally you want it to be black. The lighter it is the shinier the armor will be. I still like the gloss effect. I'll just upload a glossy and non-glossy version. Got that permission yet?
kieranfoy
Sorry, no. I PM'd him, but nothing yet. I'd say upload it with full credit, and if he says 'no,' you can always pull it.
