Aelinor
Heya, just got the GotY Edition of fallout 3 today and I've finished installing it aswell as all the DLC's.Now I got the Fallout Mod Manager and FOSE, but im having a few problems. First, i've patched to 1.7 from Bethesda's main site and im using the FOSE 1.2 beta 2 version. FMOD is also the current version. Now whenever I launch from the FOSE launcher in my fallout 3 folder, or from the Launch FOSE button in FOMOD, it starts up and the screen is black. After a second or two I hear the menu music of fallout 3 for about a second, then the game goes to desktop with a black box in the top left of my screen, and a box saying fallout 3 has encountered a problem. The game starts fine without FOSE but I really want to get this working so I can start putting some mods in.Also, if it helps, im using windows 7. Any help would be appreciated! Aelinor
A little update. After trying to launch it again, the game went black and I had to force restart my computer, couldnt do anything to go back to desktop. Now I just deleted all the FOSE files but not FOMOD. The game now does the same thing on start up, it stops working and goes to desktop, even without FOSE.. I dont understand why it would do this, all I did was install FOMOD and FOSE and I did it all properly. It worked and launched fine before I added both of them. Getting a bit frusterated, but I wont give up... so again, any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!
Fonger
all I did was install FOMOD and FOSE and I did it all properly.oddly the FOMOD I can find on FO3nexus is a collection of scripts for installing common mods through FOMM and Google can't find anything like a mod named FOMOD but since you're using Windows7 . . . 99% of all problems are caused by installing into the default directory . . . thereby allowing UAC to tap-dance on your face. anyways, clarify what you mean by installing FOMOD

I installed it to my Fallout 3 directory and it works fine, shows the DLC and Fallout in its load order and has the Launch FOSE button, but it still continues to CTD when I launch. I also followed the advice I saw on FOSE's page to install it outside of the program files, I had it in games/bethesda softworks/fallout 3 and I will do that again when I reinstall. I'm currently defragging and then im going to reinstall fallout 3 and try this again and hope I can make it work. Is there a certain patch I should use? I had 1.7 like I said before, but if theres compatibility issues between it and Windows 7 or something, ill try different ones. I currently have a list of mods I want to try and one of them is the unofficial fallout 3 patch, does that conflict with any of the Official ones? quicksilverva
you shouldnt have to download the 1.7 patch from Bethesda, as the GOTY Edition has the 1.7 patch on the DLC disk (assuming you bought the retail version)
