martinthemage
Hello Nexus I've been trying to create a Chocolate Bar for my Chocolate Coins mod. I've created it in blender and applied the texture to it and exported both the NIF and the DDS. But I have no idea how to apply the texture to the object, so in the CS and in the game, the rectangle with have the chocolate bar wrapping around it. I've tried adding NiTriStrips, then NiTexturingProperties, then right-clicking and selecting base texture, then typing in the path of my mod not beginning with C:\ but beginning with textures/clutter etc. Is this the right way to do it? Please help

martinthemage
Well, I have never used a normalmap before, and I'm not quite sure what it is. Could you explain please? And thanks for helping
ub3rman123
A normal map is an extra texture that decides how light reacts with the object. It can cause an object to look as though it has extra vertices than it actually does, by 'popping' out certain areas designated by the normal map. You can see the effects of it most prominently in the jail cell you start out in on the walls, or in large caves. To make one, you'll need the normal map filter for GIMP/Photoshop, depending on what you use. Here's a tutorial on how to make them. Without a normal map, many objects will react strangely, such as turning solid black, transparent, or completely invisible.
