Mechwarrior94
Hello everyone, got a strange problem here. I started with learning how to use the Geck. Now I finally have some idea how to use it, I tried to create my own mod. But each time i try to save, it takes a very long time to save or crashes the Geck. If that doesn't happen, the saved file (when succesfull) is NOT in the data folder, nor any where else on my computer! So I basically going nuts here finding out what I might either be missing or what is going on at all with this. Exact steps: 1. starting up the Geck2. Loading "Fallout3.esm"3. Saving "Fallout3.esm" under a new name ("TEST-001" and "TEST 001b")4. Closing the Geck5. Loading the FO3 Splash screen6. Clicking on "Data Files"7. Looking for any of the 2 saved files (and failing to find them)8. Looking in the Data folder itself with explorer (no files here either)9. Full search over the entire PC, each file seperately (no results) Now i ask for help, I hate to keep looking for something that is obviously not there. Does the Geck make a mistake or do I forget something? Please help! I wanna mod!
Fonger
willing to bet that: 1 ) you installed to the default directory 2 ) you are using Windows7/Vista therefore UAC is tapdancing on your face - the file is being saved into a virtual (and hidden) folder easiest solution becomes uninstalling and re-installing to someplace else - someplace that doesn't have the word "program" anywhere in the directory structure If you are using Steam - gets slightly messier - you gotta install steam outside the default directory before you can install fallout outside the default directory. Eternium
Quick question for ya, when you take screenshots ingame, do you see them in your Fallout folder?
Mechwarrior94
Problem solved! Thanks for the help! Just finished re-installing EVERYTHING. Also tried out the Geck directly to test if it was successful, modded 1 specific NPC (that Lucas Sims kid), gave him a BB Gun and made a test run. Seemed to work perfectly. Now to figure out how to get the things done that I was planning! Thanks again!
