MMM causes CTD on startup

I just reinstalled FO3 after a couple months hiatus, and I didn't want to play vanilla again, so I downloaded and installed Mart's Mutant Mod. I've used it before with no problems, but this time once I installed it, it was causing the game to crash. At first it seemed to only be in certain parts, so I disabled all of the files (via FOMM) and waited for the cells to respawn. But now when I boot the game up with MMM enabled, Fallout crashes before the menu even pops up.

I didn't see anything in the MMM readme files. I'm not using any mods beyond the DLC packs and MMM. I also downloaded a mod that changes Fallout's .exe to use more than 2 gigs of RAM.

Any help is appreciated.

Update: It turns out it was the DLC variants of MMM that were causing the crashes. I turned those off, and it's all good.

Or it was. Now it crashes whenever I enter the wastes...

No ideas? Common causes? Nothing? =(

Common causes?

1 - using outdated versions of MMM (very common in Oblivion, but still happens in FO3)

2 - actually being caused by different mod

3 - guessing because OP forgot to post his actual load order

4 - unstable hardware
