triratna
Previously i made a complete fallout.3 conversion project of l4d2 zombie apocalypse theme. Which naturally involved most l4d2 music, the character voice file, gun sfx and their icon music to replace fallout.3 vanilla Ui. (*Watch the Demo*) No files was released nor uploaded and i canceled this mod immediately after some NEXUS users mentioned that it is illegal due to copyright violation. No copying, No editing, No derivative version. I respect their sentiments and canceled the project, never publish it anywhere on the net as i believe it was a right thing. This mod remain for my personal gaming uses only and i stick that way. But now; today [27. 6 - 2010] i found Rochele version WIP on nexus by other modder. - www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13238 I was like "What the hell ?" I need to know whether we are allowed or not allowed to create & sharing such mod using other different game title file resources here at nexus. ~Thank you for everyone kind respond in advance. evilneko
You're not allowed to rip directly from another source, taking work that isn't your own. Nothing however stops you from simply re-creating it. eg: If I wanted, say, a glass sword from Oblivion, I would be infringing if I just grabbed the model, converted it, and uploaded. I could use it myself on my own machine, but I could not distribute it. If I created my own, using Oblivion's item as a guide, that'd be just fine. So, to sum it up: if you reinvented the wheel, share it. If you used someone else's wheel, don't.
