OR, do i need to create a folder for everything. i have just been taking all the files with mods and such and dragging the folders into the folder with all my fallout 3 files. iLive2Own
If you don't have a data folder, then you messed up your installation.
bben46
The data folder is part of the install. It is located inside the Fallout 3 folder. The default location (not the best place to install) is C:\program files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data Using this you will have problems with Vista and Win7 UAC protection that prevents changes to anything in the program files folders. Mods are changes so it will try to prevent them from being installed - it actually places them in a quarantine location until you explicitly approve them. Much better is to install to a folder outside of the protected folders - such as C:\Games\Fallout3 (It will create the data folder when Fallout3 is installed.) You must create the folder in advance. If you made the mistake of getting a pirate version, well you got what you paid for.
