Request: Improved Asala

Ok, its now dragonbone

One thing I do wanna mention tho. The armor penetration. Whenever I would set it to 2.5, the toolset would automatically round the value UP. So instead of 2.5, I could only make the armor pen 3. Still not overpowered, and close to what you were asking for, but I just wanted to let you know.

I recommend downloading the file to another location on your hard drive as a backup copy. You'll then need to extract it from the .zip file (I had to zip it, the forums won't let me upload a straight up .utc file). And extract it to your documents/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/override folder.

Now, one other thing that I want to mention. Because of how the game mechanics work, it may not show up as dragonbone on a character that already has the item. This is a glitch in the game. (as tmptmp mentioned). Selling it to a merchant, leaving the area, such as going to the party camp, redcliff, denerim, etc... and then coming back to the merchant and buying it back SHOULD respawn the sword as DB with the new stats.

On new characters, it should spawn just fine.

Also, by changing the material of the item, it changes the tint. So its now going to be the dragonbone ruddy-brown color. Now, I know that you're a purist from your earlier comments. Which is all good, no problem. I myself don't LIKE the tint that they use for dragonbone, especially on weapons, and use this mod http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1005 to have dragonbone as a different color set. Only offering that, in case that you dont like it now with the new color.

tmptmp- much thanks! the filename you mentioned didnt turn up in my search parameters for "sten" so I didnt know that was the file that I needed to edit. Definitely appreciate the tip! *kudos*

dshoub- for the most part, a large portion of the individual files that the toolset uses, can't be located via a windows search. This is because they are packed up inside of database files that windows can't read the subdirectories of as a security measure. Most of them you have to locate and edit in the dragon age toolset which Bioware made for the purpose of editing, creating and packing the files that DA uses.

And yeah, I gotta agree, the fact that they made it just plain steel, with no material progression seemed rather lame to me as well. But here ya go. Enjoy

Worked fine for me...

And DarkeWolf was right about the tint. The modified Dragon Bone one makes this improved Asala soooooo much better!

Did you extract the .uti file into your "\override" folder?

Just an odd bit of notation, but its an odd coincidence that the mod had been posted back in july of 2010 and the thread was resurrected in july 4 years later.

I'm glad of that tho. I had totally forgotten about this mod, and the tints change mod (which I DEFINITELY want!) for my reinstall when I start playing again.
