David Brasher
In TES4Gecko, go to "Edit Master List" Select the mod you are working on. When the master list comes up on the screen, select one of the masters and click "Remove."

LFact
If the mod is truly depends on its master, deleting master will cause problems. If you don't want to make a mod to be dependent on its master, you may need to merge it to master first.(then change it to .esp.....)

Dyshein
Dunno if you fixed it yet, but I use TES4Edit to get rid of master dependencies, though it involves going through and deleting all of the things that the master file adds so it could be somewhat time consuming depending on the mod. David Brasher
It is dangerous to remove masters from a mod. You need to know exactly what you are doing and do any other necessary work to make it so the mod no longer depends on those masters before taking this step. Tomlong54210
You can use this as a guide: http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=tutorial_adding_hairs_to_drow_races <-- I walked someone through making a dependent plugin, and then changing it to an independent plugin. It seems that I did not finish that, so you can ask me any questions about the process, if necessary.
