XanderKage
So yeah, I have the weirdest problem... It started after I got a new SSD and reinstalled Windows. Steam and all my games (including NV) were untouched on a second HDD I use, and all I did was backup the falloutnv folder in My Documents/My Games, and pasted it back on the new Windows. The game starts and plays fine for the most part, no crashes and a serious reduction in the freezing-while-loading occurences (upgraded PC's hardware, which is why I had to reinstall WIndows in the first place). Here's the problem though - at seemingly random times nearly ALL the textures on items added or altered by mods (mostly weapons and armor) get completely screwed up, start flickering and changing color, or completely disappear and ger replaced by the giant red ! square. Also, during this time, any savegame I create is... disappearing, I guess. No idea how or why, but if I quit and restart the game (which is the only way I could find to fix the texture problems), those saved games are gone. Any older Auot- or Quicksaves are also gone (presumable overwritten by the newer ones that don't show up). Occasionally, though, if I go to the saves folder, and remove the .bak part of the quicksave.fos.bak file, the game does see the save I made during the time the textures were corrupted. Only the last few times I did that, all I got are the quicksaves I made before the texture corruption...Oh, and the Esc button ceases to work. GO figure... Anyway, anyone have any clue what's going on? Tried disabling and re-enabling Archive Validation in the FOMM a few time, no difference than if I just restart the game. Didn't have anything like this before I reinstalled Windows. I don't want to validate game files in Steam, because I'm afraid it will delete all my mods. Will it? Also, there seems to be no specific reason why or when this texture corruption occurs... Anyone has any idea what the hell is going on? MilkTh3Cow
YES! I KNOW YOUR PROBLEM! I HAVE THIS, TOO! Ever since I moved my game from Program Files into my C:\ drive I get this! The game works just fine for 5 to 7 minutes and when I fast travel my textures flicker and I get missing meshes signs all over! You're not alone, I know for a fact it's an issue with ArchiveInvalidation but it seems that no one here can help us.
JimboUK
It sounds like you have too many active mods, try to get the number below 137. Also, validating your install won't delete or change your mods.
XanderKage
Why 137? Seems oddly specific. And yeah, I thought it had something to do with ArchiveInvalidation, because the effects seem similar. I even tried starting the game with it toggled off, but immediately got a lot of error messages from various mods that stopped working, in addition to the texture mess up... Another thing - I played through the Lonesome Road again, and I didn't have a single problem. But when I got back to Mojave, it all came back. Go figure... I'll try deactivating some mods, see if it helps.
XanderKage
I deactivated Nevada Skies and haven't encountered a problem since. So there's your fix, I guess. I haven't tried checking if there's an updated version that works, maybe it will help as well.
JimboUK
137 is the usual number where people start having problems, it's a known issue.
