billyro
I have made a custom race for Oblivion, and I have done all the texturing for the race and stuff. I put it into the construction set and created my race and applied all my textures to it, and I wanted to use the FaceGen to edit what it looked like (right now it looks like dunmer.) As soon as I went into it the program crashed and I got a "Windows is looking for the Solution" pop-up. I am using Vista, so I thought assumed it would be Vista's fault. I put the imperial textures on the race and saved, and went back into it but there was another crash, for some reason it just doesn't like my race. I tried to look at the race with my textures on it from inside oblivion, but I got a CTD as soon as I went onto it. I have yet to try it without my textures, but I doubt it would be the problem. When I edited an NPC and made them my race, the face viewer made the person have pitch black skin. I think it may be my textures. Maybe the way I did the normal maps, but I don't think so. Thanks for all help. :)
AltreU
I've got Vista and such a thing has never happened to me. It sounds like it's a little more complex than just textures. I'll look around for a solution or someone who can maybe help better than I.
yeldarb
If you are using Vista or 7 you should install any game you can modify outside of C:Program Files. I use C:Games. Are you using a form of archive invalidation? Are you creating your race on a clean game, with just Oblivion patched to 1.20416 and the CS. If I do anything large, I only use the mods that are absolutely required to make what I need.
