FadingEntity Posted October 11, 2014 Share Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) Alright, so I've been messing about with mods for maybe nearly two years now, taking breaks off and on as problem arose and I lost saves. Finally though, I believe I've narrowed down the mod list to be largely lore-friendly and comprised of only essentials that make things more immersive and add a touch of realism. However, I'm still having problems. Most recently, random crashes (which were par for the course at this point, I just save often) and the one that made me want to start this thread and see if someone with more expertise than this casual soul possesses could help. The very first dragon one fights, the beast outside of Whiterun. Once you have Run LOOT, Act on anything it is telling you, YES the Official DLC's are dirty and need cleaning, only clean mods LOOT says are dirty and need cleaning. Then post the LOOT report if you are still having trouble. From the lanterns description... * INSTALLATION *Place the ESM and one of the ESP presets (do not forget this one!) in data folder then enable them. SO the ESM and ONE ESP. volnaiskra Posted October 11, 2014 Share Posted October 11, 2014 The lanterns mod was the cause of CTDs near whiterun for me and a few others - in particular, some sort of conflict with the Vilja follower mod, though that made me suspect that it might conflict with other mods too. It's a great mod, but I've uninstalled it, as it seemed a bit unpredictable. Though maybe the only problem for you is that you've installed all ESPs instead of just one. And a new program to try as well. Should I get rid of BOSS, then? edit: My, I hadn't realized I'd left all the Lanterns active. A slight oversight, I -am- knowledgable enough to have only one chosen usually. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. It's a great mod, but I've uninstalled it, as it seemed a bit unpredictable. Though maybe the only problem for you is that you've installed all ESPs instead of just one. I fixed the ESP issue (a slight oversight on my part, good way to look even more incompetant eh?) but decided to err on your suggestion and just axe the whole thing in general after it crashed while approaching Whiterun once the dragon was killed. The multiple ESP issue was definitely the cause of the crashes as soon as the dragon died. Good mod, adds atmosphere but on rethinking it, such lanterns don't really make sense for the setting. I have it so dark at night the ONLY way to find my way is the lanterns!....:) But is really sweet when things can sneak up on you , surprise you and scare the crap out of you.
