ilDuderoni
Title sounds like a scam, I admit. But its not! Honnest! Anyway, people who follow my "uploading" actions here at the Nexus (which is nobody, except the few that appreciated my lovingly written guides) know that I'm both trying to get a hand at modding while. But before that, I had a hand at putting music in Oblivion and Fallout.I wrote a foolproof guide (more aimed for those who really have no idea, like I first was) for people to put in their own music in Oblivion.I saw at the banned forum of someone who got the 'bright' idea to upload entire songs. (*dingdong* copyright) Anyway, the music system from Oblivion and Fallout is very very similar, but slightly different.See, Oblivion switches between songs just like that, by situation. After combat, you immediatly get the peaceful songs again. In Fallout, thats different. Mainly around combat. See, when combat ends, there's a sound file played that indicates that combat is over.Usually its perfectly in tune with the current song that was played. Now, before you ask...yes, its vital to explain it fully so I can lay forward my point... Go to Data and you'll see a folder named Music. In that folder you'll find the folder Battle.Inside it, you'll find the various songs played during combat, and a folder named Finale.Inside that folder, you'll find files with pretty much the same names, only smaller in size. And when you play them, you'll see they're those "finishing" pieces when combat ended. When combat is over, the system will see what song is playing. Then goes to Finale to see if there's a file with the same name.If so, it'll play it. If not (which will happen if you add your own custom songs), it'll pick one randomly. So, what I did was I made (or tried to atleast make) an artform out of this folder.I've gotten ALL my favorite songs, I patiently listened to them to pick out the right moments that could serve as "Finale" moments. For this I used nothing more and nothing less then Audacity. It was a patient and enduring (but mainly a fun one too) task.(for example, the end of "Prima Victoria" by Sabaton was, imo, very fitting. And easy to pick out too) Now, I wanted to put all these "shorts" (as I call them) in a folder structure so that I can, with some effort, make a .fomod out of it.Aswell as give instructions to add the appropriate songs from your own music collection (and maybe change their filename a little) so that Fallout would play the appropriate Finale with the right combat song. I'm really doing this because I, once more, want to share my findings as a Dimwit that I am. Problem is, some files exceed 15 seconds (up to around 30 seconds, I think). If I read that well, somewhere, 15 seconds is the US legal limit for uploading copyrighted content that isn't yours...Or, something like that. Note, I am living in Europe. But I can imagine that on this website, US laws apply. I will absolutely credit where appropriate, not claim as my own...the whole nine yards.I made these shorts for the love of helping the community AND my eternal love of Heavy Metal.(and a few others, like Juno Reactor...Did you know, that that Juno did quite a few songs from the Matrix Reloaded?) So...plain and simple. Now that you're up to speed. Is it okay if I uploaded this package as an installable .fomod (because I think everyone should use FOMM) and stress deeply that people should see these files as teasers and should encourage them to buy the appropriate CD's (or seperate song files LEGALLY)? I really really really want to do this. But I really really really don't want to get my rear banned, y'know?I haven't made it yet, because if its not allowed...why bother, huh? I think its best someone who can speak for the Nexus sites should answer this (like a Moderator or higher  ),though I appreciate had anyone want to respond at all and express their opinion. ecksile
I was told in one my classes back in highskool that it was 30 seconds but i have bad memory so it could be wrong.
pkleiss
And I have heard that it is not the time, but rather the number of bars of a song. The exact number I do not know. For example, you could have a song that begins with 30 seconds of a single note. There is no way that a single note can have a copyright. So, this is where the number of bars fits in, I believe. ilDuderoni
Okay, this surely is keeping my hopes up  And I have heard that it is not the time, but rather the number of bars of a song. The exact number I do not know. For example, you could have a song that begins with 30 seconds of a single note. There is no way that a single note can have a copyright. If a Moderator or our well-respected Admin don't reply in this topic in the coming few days, I'll be sending a PM.I need to be certain, because I don't want to end up with a ban or even a warning. I'm doing this right or I'm not doing it at all. But what you say sounds very plausible. And I can guarantee that I haven't included full (or even partial) refrain's or noteable pieces of spoken text in them. They're pieces that really should feel like they "kick in" just right. But I'm fairly certain that this feeling will probably only be maximised if you're a Metalhead like I am... [informational]If I figure out how to script (or if someone else would, because I REALLY doubt it'll be for this year), I might script the fomod and let you select genres. Juno Reactor is really good in themesongs and this kind of stuff. (But it'll probably be focussed on Metal subgenres.) I can guarantee you that, if you watch tv atleast twice a week, you'll eventually have ended up on a show in your life that pasted a bit of a song of Juno, just right.Even that survival serie from "Ray Mears Bushcraft" did (or was it his "Extreme Survival"...can't remember).I heard that Guitar-ish distinct part from Swamp Monster by Juno. And lets not forget The Matrix: Reloaded.
