3012
Hello. What do you think of this idea?:Everytime you recruit someone as a follower which is neither paid in advance nor a minion or a housecarl, the game keeps track of your current gold and the gold you earn (looting, trading and questing) while this follower is under your service. Once you decide to part ways or whenever you rent a room (or whatever else events) you'll have to share every single septim you made throughout your journey. Your Follower gets a specific percentage of what you all earned together. That's just fair, isn't it?I always find it odd, that followers seem to do everything for love. They have to eat and make a living after all. Or they would if they were real... you know what I mean. Here is my plan:You should get the opportunity to adjust all the values in a mod config menu but I think this would work:Beginning of the Game: Everyone get's equal amounts. Once the player becomes Dragonborn (by the greybeards) he gets an additional share depending on the players level. His share is calculated before the loot is shared further:-lvl 15: 5% of the share-lvl 20: 8%-lvl 30: 10%-lvl 40: 12%-lvl 50: 15%- ...-lvl 82: 30% Example: 1 Player (lvl 15 and Dragonborn) and 1 Follower earned 1000 Gold: Dragonborn gets 50G +50% of 950G, Follower gets 50% of 950G. I got this idea from Sid Meier's pirates where the player needs to share everything he owns with his crew once in a while. I think skyrim could very much benefit from this since the economy is ridiculous. Fixed my quarrel about the waggon wheel? Here you have a pile of gold! Got the necklace from my sister? I'm a beggar but here is a pile of gold for you! And so on. You always end up having tons of money and no whay to get rid of it. This would probably fix that for quite some time in the game. What do you think?
Quizzmet
Except you eventually stop sharing with the crew because they eventually force you to end-game and retire.Bastards.Love the idea for the mod, I wish I had the slightest understanding of the CK, but I've not been able to learn it because this particular computer is somewhat shoddy.I haven't played Skyrim in so long.Pity me.Definitely going to check back here, I'd very much like someone to pick this up. I've been looking to do an Ultima-difficulty playthrough once I get Skyrim back where you are exposed to the very cold, very harsh reality of being the Hero in Skyrim. This would definitely help that out."Oh Goodie, I just got back from this grand adventure and I finally have enough cash to buy that home and start my family.Ah, life is good....Wait, Faendal, what are you doing? No! Stop! I WAS SO CLOSE!!!"
ScottC12
I like this idea, but it would be good to have it configurable. I play different characters who have different pay arrangements with their followers. For my characters who do split loot, it is tedious to handle. For example:Keep the useful items and distribute them amongst the followers based on who can make best use of the item, then sell the non-usable loot and share the proceeds equallyNo loot sharing, but equip followers as you pleasePayment up front (like hiring a mercenary) Some combo of above, like maybe hire for 1000 Gold, + some form of loot sharing Vanilla Skyrim (and some of the NPC mods) have mercenaries - the going rate seems to be 500 Gold, up front. Perhaps the mod could make almost all followers hireable for 500 Gold (except the Housecarls, who do it out of duty)? Maybe the mod could allow for configurable mercenary fees, perhaps based on the NPC’s level? Still, there may be some potential NPCs who would willingly follow the Dragonborn for free, looking for adventure, and others may still be willing to tag along just for food, lodging, and equipment. riendempsey86
this would be awesome. I use trade and barter mod and this could be something similar. perhaps on a regular bases they are paid a wage(perhaps weekly). completely support this idea. Dohkaviin
Can't it just be money? it will be a lot easier. Not that I would do it now, I also have a problem with CK, which I am not interested in fixing. It's inconsequential to me. Anyway, I think it's simple if it just involves monies. 3012
Like Dohkaviin mentioned: if we're talking about sharing loot and stuff, we're talking about version 2.0 while we don't even got an alpha.I like the ideas though, but for now money should be sufficient enough. And think about it: if you care about your own live you're very likeley to give your followers all the powerful equipment they need. You keep what you need and Belethor get's the rest. So it's okay to focus on the monies for now. Thanks for the support though. I would really like to see this mod done and the more people second the idea the more likely it is, that a modder would try to do it, I think. So I'm looking forward to that. Avastgard
The equipment sharing is already handled by other follower mods like UFO or EFF (my favorite). As to gold, you could probably contact the author of Simple Taxes and see if he is interested in adding a 'salary' option for followers, along with the taxes his mod makes you pay for the houses and horses you own. Thanks for mentioning his mod. It looks pretty nice and I'll give it a shot. Everything which takes money out of the players hands is very welcome. Avastgard
I just found out that there are two other mods that make you pay salary to your followers: Mixed Unit Tactics Dawnguard Edition (make sure you use the Dawnguard Edition, as the "vanilla" version is outdated) and Follower Live Package. Both of those mods do a LOT more than just make you pay salaries, so you should take your time reading the descriptions to know if you really want to install them. deathbymanga
an idea would also be, maybe mercenaries could charge for every kill they get. It feels weird how mercenary followers only require to be paid once and that;s it
