Paxan_1
Hi all, after i died another four times before i solved my last battle i thought it would be great if my team would use bows if the enemy is away, or they are run towards as. If they have arrived some should switch to a sword for direct attacks. Is this possible to do? Like Leliana is fighting in the Sacred Ashes Video. I use a similar method you are asking about for Leliana. I have her tactics slots maxed, set her as an archer which leaves the bottom two slots open. In these I set one to use melee weapons when being attacked by melee, and the other to use ranged when attacked by ranged or magic attacks. Paxan_1
Hi danscott,i've tried what you have said. So i need two places of the tactics to set the switching between far enemys and near ones. There are 4 left for battle tactics, i will have a look at it. Thanks for the advice, haven't had the idea to have a look for it there. Paxan You would want at least one to set up at least a certain type, like melee or ranged. Two make it more consistant. I still have to watch Leliana when I do this, however, as she will stick with the weapons in hand after a fight is over. I tend to like her mainly as an archer, so after each battle I check what weapons she has in hand before going into the next one.
Jannifer
Alternately, you can put a bow or crossbow in the second weapons slot for characters who don't normally use those weapons. Then, use the first four F keys (F1-F4) to cycle through your party members and the / key to change the weapon they're using. From there, pause, aim, unpause and shoot. It's actually much faster to do than to explain. :) Just as a note, choose crowbows for your fighter types and make sure you use a mod which corrects the damage so that it calculates off Strength rather than Dexterity. Rogue types will, of course, do very well with bows. Just let mages rely on their own magical ranged attacks such as staves and spells. You might also want everyone to hold position until your enemies are almost within melee range, particularly if you play with Dog. No point in letting him rush forward and get mobbed, Maker bless him. Which method you choose, managing or tactics, will depend on how much you like to manage your party in-game, obviously. My method will allow you to start an attack as soon as enemies switch to hostile without waiting for an actual attack. While most crowds have archers and/or mages, not all do. Personally, I remapped the weapon swapping function to the letter F key. As a touch typist, I play with my left hand in position on the keyboard and my right hand on the mouse. Most of the functions I might want to access in-game I've remapped to keys I can easily reach with my left hand.
