NoneError
Well, I've been playing through the whole series (excluding BOS) and I keep having a thought come back to me; could it be done in full 3D glory? The third game is well-made and fun, but just imagine the cathedral, the vats of Mariposa, Vault Zero - these places would be even more incredible. I ask you, one and all, could it be done? Many elements needed are already there.
Wookie120
Sure would be nice. I know there is a group working on a New York City mod for FO 3.
bben46
Just remember that Bethesda resurrected a game that was produced by another company. The resources in the FO1 & FO2 are not allowed to be used in FO3 as many of them are not owned by Bethesda and they could get sued by the owners for allowing them to be used without permission. So anything that is from the older games MUST be made over from scratch and not ripped and imported. As we don't want to be sued either, we do folow Bethesda's ruling on this. And yes, it would be great to see some of that old content in the newer higher resolutions of FO3.
falloutperson416
It would be nice to have the Fallout 1 and 2 feel, but as bben46 siad, it's not owned by Bethesda or any of us. But, we are still working on the New York City mod for Fallout 3, so you can look foward to that. Yes, I m part of the team. I am one of 2 design artists. pkleiss
I remember a while back that someone was actually making fallout 1 for fallout 3. He had some nice pics of some of the cities of fallout 1 to go with it. I haven't seen that thread updated in a while though. If I'm not mistaken, and I probably am, Bethesda bought the rights to the Fallout series from a bankrupt company. It would seem to me that they would own the rights to fallout 1 & 2 as well and thus could use resources from those two games if they so choose. They certainly used Harold. Not that he is a rip, but certainly he is an intellectual property form Fallout 2.
Theonewhoisodd
This would be awesome but it'd be a lot of work without a large team to work on it. I've tried to play both of the other fallout games but couldn't get into it... I'd be willing to help in any way I can I am good at tracking down stats and integrating them through GECK. Quetzlsacatanango
It is true that Bethesda now owns the Fallout IP, and Interplay is now a licensee. Specific art assets may be a different issue, but it's kind of a moot point because all of the graphical assets in those games were sprite-based and porting them to fo3 doesn't make a lot of sense anyway. NoneError
Well, it does matter to an extent. I mean, the characters with talking heads have audio to go with them, and if that audio is the property of others, they can't use it for taunts or dialogue.
