ell46
I thought it best to post this here, in case I cross the line into spoilers. I have only played Oblivion once when it was first released and I've decided to dust it off and play again. Looking at all these mods is just mind boggling and I've no idea where to start. I've downloaded and run the official patch, got the game running had it crash once !!! visually it looks as I remembered, if it's got bugs then I've totally forgotten what they are. One thing I remember is killing things and then loosing them in the grass and having to search for them to get the loot. Also a question is this the game that has those horrible fish that attack you and some really grotty filthy houses to buy? What mods would you recommend I try or must have,
Tomlong54210
The general mod forum would have been a better place, especially since these types of threads are created there quite frequently. Stabilization and Optimization Mods - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=stabilization_and_optimization_modsDownloading Mods - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=downloading_modsNew Users Guide - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/#new_users_guide I guess you are referring to having fish in the water. Yes, they attack. In the vanilla game, you only find Slaughterfish. Most of the houses are not what I would call filthy. Only two of them really fit that description (when you buy them.) Pushkatu
Hi. First of all, welcome to Nexus forums. You might want to take a look at How to install Oblivion with patches article made by LHammonds . As for mods, well the best thing for you to do is to look around the categories and find the mods yourself, but I will give you a few hints. Once you have installed the patches, start a new game and see how the game works. You should have no problems if you have installed the patches correctly. You should make a copy of your data files folder at this point, just in case you do something wrong, so you won't have to start over from ground zero again. If you plan to use many mods you should also take a look at BOSS - Bettet Oblivion Sorting Software , OBMM - Oblivion mod manager , Wrye Bash , Oblivion Crash prevention system Now you'll probably want to start by looking for a place to stay as you have close to nothing. Everyone needs a place to crash and call home. I recommand you check some of my friends profiles, they are all very good modders and have some of the best house mods available. Of course there are many more good modders out there and even more good mods, but this is just to get you started. So check : trollf , Emma , Khettiena , Korana , StapleNinja profiles. Also some very popular house mods: Dwemer Technology part II - Dwemer Skyship by mr_siika Bravil Sea Domes by Phitt Abandoned Mountain Shack by Vince Bly Frostcrag Reborn by indefiance etc. If you have a decent PC(new ones tend to work better ), you might think "Hey, I've seen thousands of pictures with this game and everything looked so much better!" Well, you are right, modded Oblivion can give you some amazing scenics and views. Here's a couple mod I recommand you: Weather - All natural by wrinklyninja Let there be Darkness by LprMan Oblivion Graphics Extender by scanti Qarls Texture Pack III full v1_3 OMOD by Qarl & BangsBoomstik Natural Environments by Kibosh Illumination Within by slap As for gameplay, this is what I recommand: Realistic Ragdolls and Force Harvest Flora Deadly Reflex See you sleep Alternative Start Arrive by Ship Oblivion Elys Uncapper Oblivion XP FCOM Renners Guard Overhaul Stealth Overhaul Alchemy Advanced Enchantment Restore Over time OBSE Also, feel free to check my list of Oblivion mods. I have listed over 3300 mods, all sorted in alphabetical order and what I consider are some of the best and useful mods made by our community. Push list of Oblivion mods Cheers,Pushkatu! ell46
I've been playing DAO for months and have used mods with that, so I'm assuming the mods for Oblivion are used in a similar fashion. I've got the OModManager ready and I've download the unofficial patches. This PC is a more uptodate than the old one I first played on, but having said that the parts have started to arrive for my new super computer, I'm sitting here looking at some very nice looking gold memory thingies  At the moment I recognise names, but not where the places are or what they are like. I've seen the homes mods they look really nice. One thing I remember is when looting seeing things that looked nice and I would take them back to this little grubby place I'd bought in the hope it would brighten it up and spending ages trying to get the damned things to stand up or go where I wanted them  I really should have played the game more than once, I can't believe that at the start of the game I barreled through those caves and sewers and didn't take anything then burst out into the open like an explosion and continued playing like that for quite some time. I missed quite a lot at the beginning and only realised last night. Mind you after the confines of DA running through the grass in any and all directions is quite exhilarating, I can't wait to get the horse, I remember that. That list of suggested mods sounds great, thank you it's going to be fun checking them out.
Olurum
Might not be wholly appropiate for someone just starting out with modding, but here's two videos I made: (this is one slightly older and might contain some outdated mods) So you get a bit of a preview of what you're installing... though be aware that some mods might require the Shivering Isles Expansion. All music/mods/whatever are listed in the video description, so it's probably best to view them on youtube. EDIT: Argh, the recent forum upgrade converts normal youtube links straight into the embedded format? Nice... Was messing around with the [media] and tags wondering why they wouldn't work. ;D
