gt0915
Just like to know if any one else has thought of this mod, and how it would be done, might have a slower rate of fire, more damage, greater distance/ speed, and better accuracy.
Cyborg16
I don't think it would be very easy, since I don't think it's possible to add animations or weapon classes to the game. Your ideas of stats sound quite good, if this could be done though. That is with a long load time but having it ready to fire immediately. I prefer bows in general, but it would be nice to have a bit more variation!
dylandvillian
i Think that the crossbow sucked in morrowind! but i do like the idea of having a crossbow in oblivion but ithink that it should atleast be a semi-automatic with a clip. actually i think that i want a gun in oblivion and older model like the old rifle's that they used back in the day. but there's only one in the whole game that right the first gun ever invented and you obtain it by via quest. cool thought although i don't think that it will happen untill oblivion's animations get released. I'll just keep dreaming. sorry that i sidejacked my post
loveme4whoiam
Somehow I doubt the Empire has progressed to the point of using muskets, probably because they can employ mages to chuck fireballs at people rather than piddly little chunks of lead. As for a crossbow with a clip - far-fetched, but not impossible. The Romans sometimes employed a ballista with a sort-of clip, that dropped a fresh bolt into the, I dunno what its called, chamber I guess. I doubt the principal was ever taken further and scaled down, but a skilled modeller and animator could do it. The only problem would be getting it into the game, since no new animations can be added  But I'd be all for crossbows being added, if it were possible :D
dylandvillian
oh come on you can't imagine runnig around witha shotty blastin at deadra but the bullets bounce off them so you have to wip out your magicka fire ball and burn the beast down?? all i know is that i can picture this but only i can't look down the barrel only third person mode for this one (too avoid becoming a FPS) oblivion the first TPSRPG (third person shooter/ role playing game)

I have seen a re-production of one of these crossbows in the Viking re-enactment group that I’m in, and at a good run you can fire up to 50 bolts per minute (you arms get very sore after 2 or 3 goes!) It was also really inaccurate, and had pathetic range. Not a problem when your target is "that group of a thousand soldiers over there", but useless for a game like Oblivion. As for the idea of semi-automatic crossbows, that's just silly. There's no way you could build one, period. Anyone who says otherwise is just ignorant of physics. dylandvillian
firstly Chinese had all sorts of equipment firworks and cauldrons full of boiling lava to through on ship that were in enemy controll, i find it hard to believe that a crossbow would be inacurate. secondly i think that the chinese should be left out of it because they are not part of the lore around oblivion. thirdly the crossbow is part of tes lore. tes is in a state of evolution and i think that the game varibles should be in that same state suchas the crossbows for oblivion should be more rapid fire type. you can now weild a weapon and cast magicka at the same time. the list goes on and on about the comparison in-between morrowind and oblivion but i can't help from thinking that my hope for all the things that ithough oblivion lacked will fullfill the attitude that is apparently missing from oblivion. NE ways oblivion is starting to become the epic game it was when it's name happened to be morrowind (yeah Levitation, opencities,) as for the semi auto-matic crossbow being impossible this is computer gamming and it was impossible to play oblivion a few years ago or months ago if you want to be accurate. but yet now i play oblivion like everyday. so why is it that you think that a semi-automatic crossbow would be impossible. Is that correct? That argument seems to be lacking a degree of finality. Now, if I may, allow me to suggest an alternative that will command all the respect that you deserve. Instead of saying "people declared that xyzzy was impossible, but now it's possible -- therefore, klmml is possible," get to the point and say "it is impossible for something to be impossible." That way, people will immediately know the level of intelligence they are dealing with.
Stampede
Fair enough. Now lets stop with the unwarranted aggression and get back on topic.
