Gibberish Subtitles

So i dled and installed a mod from http://oblivion.forum.jpmod.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=50 and now my subtitles are in gibberish. Anyone know whats causing it D:?

That's because the mod is probably in Japanese.

I do not use BP 2ch Edition, but it may have Japanese description for each races. You will have to edit the plugin to remove 'gibberish'. You can use Construction Set to edit it, but TES4Edit allows you to compare two or more plugins.

If you computer does not support Japanese characters, you will see squares and English letters with accents instead. I tried out a Japanese mod, and now the rumors topic is displayed as IA with accents on it. I do not know about fixing it though. Unless the mod has many dialogue reference edits, I can't see it being not ignorable.

Your game is now in Japenglish, an amalgam of the two languages. If you are lucky, just removing the mod will allow everything to be displayed in English again. Just unchecking the mod in your data list will not remove it. you must actually go into the data structure and remove the mod and all texture, mesh and other parts. However it is possible that installing the mod replaced parts of other mods with the Japanese characters. In that case you may have to reinstall those mods.

 

The rest of the world does not use English. So when you DL from a non English site, expect another language. We even support many non English mods here at TesNexus, although most do have an English version also.
