Eh...Im installing the toolset for the sole purpose of extracting this scripts.ldf lol. I really hope this works or else Im going to be angry XD. Actually Im gonna be safe and extract scripts.ldf from ALL of the patches.

Is there a way to make a mod that rolls back the script.ldf file without violating copyright restrictions (like perhaps not actually including BioWare's file in the download)? Or perhaps packaging it as a dazip so that you actually need the game to install it.

Perhaps I would be less reluctant to use the toolset if they didnt make it so cumbersome...

EDIT: Alright, I extracted them. Confirmed: the 1.04 script.ldf is indentical (in file length) to the 1.02 script.ldf, at 306,005 bytes. The 1.03 script.ldf is 313,919 bytes, so I assume it has more stuff in it.

How about I save everyone some time.

Script IDF v1.03

Place in "[install Path]\Dragon Age\packages\core\patch\" and you are good to go.

It fixes the problems with Advanced Tactics (something I use a lot) though I have noticed Wynne has problems with it no matter what patch is installed. I guess she's just old, or needs more Lyrium...

And following-up on that work, here's a summary of the differences between 1.03 and 1.04 in my:

"\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age..." folder

I've got a complete listing of all the changed files I found which I'll post as a project, but these are the highlights. The most intersting item to me is that "globalvfx.rim" is another file that has an earlier date than the version provided with 1.03. And while the simlar "global.rim" has a date that is a bit later than its 1.03 equivalent, it was still considerably before 1.03 release date.

Curious...

Not sure what to make of all that, but it was interesting to go through the list.

[Edited to add the two different versions of "patch003.erf" that I had left out.]

Im pretty sure it wont matter, as patch 1.04 is only supposed to edit specific files (which should not include random .ldf files sitting in the patch folder). I, however, put it in override to guarantee that it loads after the 1.04 files.

Perhaps someone should email bioware about older files being included in 1.04? Especially since it seems now that script.ldf wasnt the only one...

Does anyone know what global.rim and globalvfx.rim do?

We are well aware of the pros of the 1.04 patch, but it appears that bioware made some mistakes in the packaging by including some older files than those provided in 1.03. The script.ldf included with 1.04 is the identical file provided with 1.02, which effectively breaks any mods dependent on the new functions added in 1.03.

And yeah...it might be good to save a draft periodically when writing a long post.

Adding to my own list of "What's Changed with 1.04?" I took another look at the file "patch003.erf" in the directory listings for 1.04, and realized that I should have included that file in the original post. THere are two different ones included, so they are more than jsut "containers" of the rest of the stuff that got uncompressed into the various folders.

Here's the missing pair:

Directory of C:/Program Files (x86)/Dragon Age/packages/core/patch

2010-06-07 17:13 20,623,266 patch003.erf (New in 1.04, obviously. And based on the size, not the same as the identically named file in [Program Files (x86)/Dragon Age/modules/single player/patch] below.)

(Have already edited the OP for completeness. )
